When I try to turn on my Area 51 M17x (R1) nothing happens. No lights, no sound.

When I press the button on my battery, its lights up indicating a full charge. I noticed that the light on the power brick which is normally blue was off. I can get it to turn on by unplugging the brick from the laptop and from the wall outlet, then plugging back into the wall outlet.

Once I plug the brick back into my laptop, the blue light shuts off. I have tried to plug the laptop into the power brick directly without a battery and it still won't power up.

I press the button and as far as I can tell, nothing happens.

I thought I posted this the other day when the issue first happened but I can't find the thread, maybe there was an error when I tried posting. If this is a duplicate, I'm very sorry. Any tips here would be great. Thank you.

Try unplugging the power , then remove the battery , then hold the power button down for 20 seconds , then put the battery back in and see it it will power up.

In addition, you can also unplug the BIOS battery (though it's most likely not gonna help)

I tried this (held down power key for 20 seconds while unplugged + no battery) and still nothing. What is this supposed to do by the way? I have seen other posts recommending it.

It's a power drain that supposed to release any remaining statical charge from the system.
Did you try unplugging the BIOS battery (for 10-20sec)?

Also see if you can boot on AC power without the battery pack.
Next step would be to remove all the cards, RAM sticks, HDDs and see if there's a villain responsible for the possible short circ.

    >>>>Of course, you have to leave 1 RAM stick.

How can I get to the BIOS battery? Tried looking for a guide. I can't power on with or without the battery and it being plugged in.

Ok, had to remove a lot of stuff to find that BIOS battery and the laptop still won't power on. While looking for the BIOS battery, I noticed that the fans on one of my 8600M GTs does not seem to spin as easily as the other 8600M GT or my system fan. The other two fans kind of wobble when I move them a little bit but the fan on my 8600M GT just stays at whatever position I move it to.

Is it possible that this fan is broken? Could that prevent my laptop from powering on? I tried installing just the master video card using a guide, but the laptop still would not power on. Alienware's tech support has been less than helpful.
