Areaa-51 m17x - 1st Gen

Hi guys, happy new year

I was wondering if anyone had heard about a BIOS upgrade for the above, that allows over-clocking or using the extreme processor to it's full potential?

Besides that, has anyone had any problems with there m17x's, mine is still working fine, due for a dismantle and clean session but, apart from replacing the graphics drivers for the latest nVidia ones, runs fine and does not get hot running Dragon Age: Origins with everything maxed out and HD texture pack..

haha I think you already got my post on my overheating on my m17x. But at least you pointed out it was not airflow so it would be Motherboard and I am glad there someone that had the m17x running fine. I sure miss mine.

I agree the cleaning of the vents on that laptop was tricky. Pull the gpus out to clean them. Then pop the keyboard off to get to the cpu vents.

 

I was going to disassemble the top cover (including screen) remove it and then gain access to the fans etc., failing that just open up the bottom and do it that way. I have Iso. alcohol, wipes and cotton buds already lol

It's a shame about your 1st m17, how's the new one fairing for you? Have you tried many games?
