is the issue with the gtx260m not being 'compatible' with the core i5 for the M15x simply a 'upselling' maneauver? or is it genuine hardware issue?

to rephrase that, if i personally put a gtx260m into a M15x with an arrandale in it, will it work?

also, have there been any reports of how well switchable graphics work on arrandale yet?

Only reviews I've seen of mobile Arrandale yet are done using the ASUS K42F which just has the Intel IGP so nothing yet on switchable graphics.

Not to sound like it's definitely the reason but if I had to guess I'd say the older G92 core on the GTX260M might not support switchable graphics with the new Arrandale IGP so AW isn't offering the combo to avoid disgruntled phone calls.

Ironically though, right now, the best way to get an answer would be to call Alienware. ;)

haha ya...i would call, but i honestly don't trust company reps because they probably don't know what they're talking about or they're just saying anything to get you to make a purchase
