I ordered my system a few weeks ago with the AlienRespawn disk, obviously configured for Vista. What are my chances of getting AlienWare to send me a W7 respawn disk?

good luck with that one... they are already stingy enough to charge $50 to people that actually buy them with their purchase. It's not that big a deal... as you can make your own when you intall W7 and use a disk imaging software. You will save $50 too. It just takes longer to maually install the OS and then all the drivers/apps, but it's still cheaper!

^^ Me too think that's riddiculous to charge for a stupid AR disc when you already buy them a $2,000-3,000 system.
Maybe OP mean if he can exchange his Vista AR for Windows 7 AR, for free. I think it may work that way. Just call your rep and see what he can offer.

For those of you who received a Western Digital drive with your M17x, you can access and download the WD Edition of Acronis True Image which is offered free of charge to WD Drive owners.

The WD Edition of Acronis True Image is Vista compatible and should have no issue with Win7. Acronis is a great backup solution - been using it for some time now to image my system on a regular basis.

For those who purchased their M17x with a Seagate Drive, Seagate also offers DiskWizard free of charge which can be used to create a backup image of your Hard drive for later use as well:

If you already have the Re-Spawn discs you can make your own images. So when you install Win7 just use your "Respawn discs" to make another image after you install Win 7.
