Which is not true. The 9500M GS is a very sucky card compared to the 8800M GTX. A more accurate comparison would be between the x600M and x800M. 600 < 800 and GS is always slow compared to GTX. That is if you want to compare them at a superficial level.

the 9500M has the exact same specs as the 8600m: meaning 128bit memory bus and only 32 stream processors. The 8800m in the m15x has a 256bit bus and 96 stream processors. Please believe us it is not worth it. :)

Go here for a comparison chart:

i think the info on the 9500m and 9300m found on nvidias website should not be taken as fact... under the specs link it says 8600m by mistake..
    >>look down the bottom>>
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_9500M_techspecs.html

so yer.... i think the 9500m could be any thing still and disagree with what people are saying that it will be exactly the same as 8600m etc.. unless there was some release confirming the hidden info on nvidias site as non placeholder ?

    shrug...

What would you rather have out of these two:

    1989 VW Golf 1.8L GTI
    1993 VW Golf 1.4L CL

    ?

Just because something is newer, doesn't mean it's better. Although to be fair the naming convention is a bit different. Currently with nVidia, the last 3 numbers and letter code suffix denote the equivalent of engine size and trim level. The numbers before denote the equivalent of year.

The 9500GS really is like a Mk3 Golf with a 1.4L wheezy engine, and CL granny seats with gay white roof lining and no extras like air-con etc.

Thanks guys for confusing me : The 9500m GS is a 8600M GS. Took me a long time to find it out on the web and on this forum in particular. So it's not such a sucky card. For a 15.4" laptop, it's a good card.

The 9500m GS is a die shrink of the 8600m GT and performs about the same as a 8600m GT GDDR3 256mb GPU (9500m GS is DDR2 512mb).
