try pressing down on the speaker to see if it will fix the problem.

This problem is being talked about in the tech forums on the AW support section. According to Warner, the issue is being looked at, and may be an issue associated with the x34 BIOS that was released not too long ago.

this just starting happening. i was watching a standard 30 min avi file and i got choppy audio, i think it because i had stealth mode on
(after sleep mode i cant turn it off). -

ok so i still have the issue and stealth mode is not on (it probally would not have mattered either way). this sucks i cant watch videos now? wow i cant beilve the m15x can do an elemantary thing like this flawessy.

i have x34 and dont notice audio cracking. i watched a ton of video files since i updated to x34 and dont really notice this issue.
-
I have just updated and i noticed the crackling to :S
-
Maybe this has something to do with the very high latency experienced in this bios?
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=291800
But on the otherhand, maybe the high latency is a consequence of the changes introduced in order to lower the CPU's voltage and temperature (thus preventing its downclock)... -
I don't know if anyone is still looking at this discussion anymore, but if anyone is I hope this works for you:
Change the sample rate, double click your red realtek speaker looking icon in the windows bar, then go to default format tab and click on the menu and choose 24bit, 96000 Hz, or if u can 24bit, 120000Hz(i was not able to).
That worked for me. I found this out cause I got kind of frustrated that there was the a lot of crackling while playing games sometimes and playing music, especially when it was a high pitched sound, so I went and fiddled with things and thats what got it to work better, still does it a little if its a really high pitched sound, but helped. Also I did the same with linux, except I changed it to 120000, and OMG it sounds amazing, I can put it as loud as i want and still no crackling. and so far no song i have played has caused it to crackle. So now I love every part of my m15x, that was my only problem with it and I am very pleased now.
and if your using Ubuntu, and want a fix then install jackd, "sudo apt-get install jackd", and then in terminal type jackd -d alsa -r 120000 and close terminal. That helped me hope it helps you guys.
Oh, and if anyone knows about a way to fix the speaker/headphone problem on Ubuntu, could someone please post the solution, it would be greatly appreciated.
