I have had my Alienware Aurora M9700 for 2 years and have to say it has been very reliable, producing great gaming experience. Its reaching its limits now with the Dual GeForce Go 7900's but still does not bad until a couple of months ago when I started having frame reductiosn and eventually complete shut downs. By all accounts it is an overheating problem and I need to clean all round especially the heatsinks and fan(s) Does anyone have a step by step guide (with pictures) how to do this as I have never even opened the back of the laptop up. Its out of warranty of course so no voidance issues. I just cannot live with this frustrating problem anymore and any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

ahh, well no one else has posted here so I will. I dont get how youve went 2 years without opening up your backplate to clean it. I have to open my alienware area51m 776 up every week it seems like to clean it. Some things you will want are q-tips, areisol, or the keyboard duster stuff, cloths all i have used in keeping myn clean granted q-tips can leave some fibers behind after using them, but if you look closely you can see if that is the case or not. Getting in there with aerisol dosnt hurt nothing though, and its absoultly needed in keeping your cpu/gpu fans clean. Especialy geting to your memory if its under your keyboard is a must must! If thats not clean in there you will defeitily notice it slowing down on you. Theres usualy, on myn any way, three plastic ledges that click your keyboard into place on top, you have to press them all in to allow you to grasp your kb. You will get nicks, and dents, and things when doing all this stuff but its a must, and you can only learn by expierence. As far as guides are conserned, I have been looking for disasembly guides for certain models my self, namly mine and havent had any luck...
