    Hello,

I have a m9750, which I have always been able to get about an 1 to 1.5 hours of battery life out of. All of the sudden I can now only get about 15 minutes for some reason. Whats really strange is that its not consistent, sometimes I can get an hour and then other times it will say I have 80% battery left and just go into hibernate. When I plug it into the wall and turn it back on it says it only has 5% of the battery left??

Do you think its a battery or could something else be causing this? I was not doing anything taxing when the battery died, just looking at websites like this one...

    Thanks in advance,
    Jon

completely discharge the battery and then completely recharge it. this helps battery indicator give a more accurate reading. try that first

how long have you had the battery. did you always leave the battery in the m9750?

I've only had the system for about 4 months, and yes it has always been in, how do I fully discharge the battery when it goes from 80% to 5% and shuts down though?
Should I try removing it and putting it back in?

    thanks

Technically, draining the battery is just using it until your machine is forced to shut down. Try reseating the battery, as well. I'd recommend leaving the system off for a few hours while you charge it from an empty state, without interruption. Maybe you can arrange this when you go to sleep.

so I drained the battery as much as I could (because it goes straight from 80% to shutdown) shut the computer off, removed and reinserted battery, and left it to charge all day while it was shut off.
This morning I tried to run it unplugged and it made it to 77% and then went into hibernate. After plugging it in and restarting it says the battery was at 5%.

So does that mean its probably a bad battery?

Let the battery recharge and see if the problem happen again after recharge.
