Hi,
I dropped my m15x yesterday, it fallen from a height of 20m, now it seems unusable anymore, i notice that my screen broke and the HDD was deadly shocked, both of them are not working anymore, I know the HDD is dead because when I plug it in, I hear a beep beep sound and it continues.. beep a while beep beep beep...I replace the HDD and that beep
disappeared.
I'm hopping the mainboard and all other components on it was safe after the drop.. but I dont know how to check it. I'm trying to turn on my laptop, everything seems to be running although I cannot see what actually running.. I try to push the display to HDMI port but no luck, i know it can be switch if I entered Windows but now I'm trying to install a fresh OS on a new HDD and replace the broken one. I think this is the only way to check my laptop case to know it's still alive.
Anyone has a better way ?I'm so sad because I did not only lost my laptop but also all of my working data

Oh f me, I was testing my hand made security camera on the balcony and.... i DROPPED IT
-
Dang sorry to hear that
-
Damn dude, how long have you had the m15x? Also if only the hard drive is broke then that was a good test to see how strong the m15x is xD not to make you feel bad or anything
that sure would suck.

Thank you guys to be here but damn it.. I'm in Asia and I think I could reach them on the phone, anyone here can help me ask them about this ?

Im still shocked about what happened.. maybe I would give myself a sleep
it's late and dark here
oh f, xmas is comming and my present was a drop
-
So i'm guessing your in vietnam right now. Did you buy it in the US or somewhere else, and what kind of warranty did you get for it. If still under regular warranty then upgrade to complete care and wait a few weeks before claiming it. But I don't know if complete care is available over seas.

i might've dove off the balcony in attempt to make a combat rescue

I'm honestly surprised there's anything left of it after a 66ft fall.

I wouldnt allow my m15x's screen to see it, it'd be just too horrible.
-
I'd be interested to see, i mean they are pretty rediculously well built, and if the machine will operate after a drop like that (screen+hdd replaced.) i'll be brutally amazed!.

Hey guys, I'm now in my office, pictures would be available when I come home ( next 10 hours from now ), now you guys should take time to prepare everything to keep your laptop's heart safe
I'm trying to check if the case is still alive after the fall. But first I have to find a 2.5in HDD with a Windows OS pre-installed. Damn..

Thanks you guys for good words and funny words
those make me laugh
) Ok, picutes are on the first post. Happy xmas everyone
-
Amazing that it's in such "good" condition for a fall from that height.
I bet this can be revived with a few spare parts from Dell/AW.
Did you have the complete care insurance? -
those are some sad pictures
-
yea you destroyed the case
best you could do now is a desktop convert ... if you get it back working ... -
Wow the inside hardware still looks decent xD I bet you can make a nice dekstop of that with moo's help. Or go to some kind of pc store and ask what they can make of it , like put it al into a kobal case so you'll have a laptop afterall :d
-
Hey gentle men,
The machine still alive, after a lot of test, I found it still runningBut with the laptop screen and all the right ports are dead. I think I'm stuck. Trying to fix them now.
P/s: I want to say thanks to Moo -
be careful with cooling, if your fans aren't working as they should, your components couldfry themselves pretty quickly.
good luck saving your baby ): -
Right ports have repaired, but don't know how to port the display out via HDMI. Could anyone comfirm that the HDMI port will put signal out at the time the laptop turns on? Anyone has a solution ? My HDD died too
-
hdmi will not turn on when you turn on laptop have to enable hdmi out with the fn keys, forgot which one
-
Fn+F6, restart required the first time you do it (I think)
-
at least it is not a m17 x...
-
Wow.....I had my eyeglasses drop that distance when I was in China. Maybe this is saying that anything we bring to Asia is bound to fall 60 feet? In all seriousness though I'm sorry for your lost and hope your salvage goes well.
-
I hope that you get everything up and running.
-
so how is the warranty issue with it. maybe better just to sell all your working parts and get a new lappy. so are you in vietnam for vacation or permanent?
-
Should not be a problem for a data recovery specialist. Will cost a few bucks. But if you're missing sensitive business data ... -
Hi guys,
I have just installed Windows 7 using another LCD. Anyone here tried to make the HDMI out using the integrated graphics card ? I tried to let the HDMI signal out using a HDMI-to-VGA cable but failed, I got a error message saying "VGA Driver Error". I think HDMI output is not available when using the integrated card.
P/s: Maybe you would ask me why didn't I use the high performance card but the answer is it's dead
Bad day for me, my m15x has been broken
