Looks like alienware has run out of the 3870's. The build time on the website went up today to an estimated ship date of 4/20/9 ( ;) ) Theres an estimated 17 day wait for the gpus. I suppose thats not insanely long, yet impatience sometimes seems like it can kill a person lol. Luckily my M17 has already got the dual gpus and im just waitin for em to replace my processor and quality check it. Just thought id share the wait time as it just went up today or last night. I still wouldnt let this discourage an order as from all the reviews ive read it seems to be a really solid system. Hopefully ill have mine in a week ill try to post a review as soon as i recieve it.

official word I got on my order was they had 'master' 3870's, but no 'slave' 3870s for the crossfire config. (They offered to complete mine as a single card option and ship right away...)

estimated arrival for the slave 3870's is 13 April, which seems to match a projected shipping date for a new system of 20 April.

The cards are identical minus the BIOS. Shouldn't be a shortage, especially of the slave card.

Unlike us, AW is, "by the book," so they wouldn't take their Masters and flash the Vbios into slave cards.

Hopefully they're pulling back on inventory to make way for some 4870's ;)

We can only hope! Anyone hear of what the price for the upgrade would cost without getting to much off topic?

I don't have to settle on a summer notebook (AKA Gaming to pass the time in Florida and Wa.) till the end of May, so hopefully a lot of issues and unknowns will clear up like:

    #1. 4870 GDDR5 in M17 formfactor and/or elsewhere
    #2. Clevo M98
    #3. Sager NP5797 w/ GT280M

And some final everyday benchies, build quality, etc...
