i was looking around and i think i want the m17 with dual ATI 3870's,
    For 1699

I was thinking about this, but i think the m17 is a much better choice, and has much more power with crossfire.

But at 1849 it doesnt sound as good as deal as the m17 at 1700.

    What do you guys think?

BTW: not worried about ram or hd, will upgrade myself later.

ALSO: i will be doing financing but i read the thread and it said to just go with a small bank loan. I guess the 51$ a month doesnt really mean 51$ a month?

Go for the M17. You might be getting more bang for your buck with it.

If you care about mobility (using it in class on battery) go for the m15x and buy the smartbay battery later. If this is just a desktop replacement used for a little mobility then definitely get the M17.

To tell you the truth, i'm not sure about Xfire with notebooks, its still new, maybe its better than SLI, but i wont risk it, id go with the m15x if i was looking for Mobility + performance

yes definitely little, gonna buy a netbook for my mobility needs. So i guess im definitely getting the m17, does anyone know how much faster a single 3870 compares to a 9800m? And does Vista still have problems with crossfire, or has updates and drivers fixed that?

    Dual 3870s get 14000 to 15000 in 3DMark06. The 9800M GT gets around 10000.

Swing for the M17 and use the extra 200 dollars and upgrade the screen that's where SLi and Crossfire Shine

Contrary to popular belief the benefits of Raid 0 are really negligible if you aren't actually taking advantage of it. Raid also works better in Desktops when you have a dedicated raid controller (not on the mobo).

Honestly I gave up on PC gaming and only really play CS:S now which runs fine. With the M9750 with the 7950GTX SLi it ran fine and pretty much played everything fine. I switched over to Console gaming because I didn't have my laptop for 3 months.
