nvm, you saw that already. -

yes, with the balls.
I don't think the balls can lower idle temp by itself, but it should lower a few degree when extra air is needed for intake during gaming.
And also, the balls make sure the intakes are not blocked. -
Cryo LX, Zalman NC2000, Enermax Aeolus, Vantec Lapcool Pro. take your pick.

Oodle-Bear Alienware Mug, Testpilot
Hey Whizzo, can we get the Aeolus in europe yet. I'm going to get one for my M17X, once I can get them for the Uk?

nope, not available yet as far as i know. might be able to find it on ebay, or have a friend/relative ship it from the states.

I am also looking for a laptop cooler andi have limited myself to these two choices:
NZXT Black Aluminum Notebook cooler w/ 3 120mm adjustable fans Model CRYO LX
or
ZALMAN Notebook Cooler Model ZM-NC2000 Black
Now my M17 should be arriving on the 23rd and I need a cooler soon.
The only reason i can't pick between the two is that the ZALMAN cools the front and middle of the laptop, while the NZXT cools the back and middle of the laptop. I have no idea which part of the M17 is more heat prone, thus I cannot choose at the moment.
Does anyone recommend one of these coolers over the other for the M17? -

I got the NZXT, pretty sweet highest temperature I have gotten on heavy load is 75 celsius

I got a rosewill RNA-7000W

is that Enermax Aeolus good for 17" laptops?

TurbodTalon Notebook Virtuoso
Has anyone noticed the reflective surface on the inside of the GPU/CPU access panel?
It's probably not the greatest idea in the world, but I wonder what the temp drops would be if the access panel was removed and 'Notebook Cooler X' was blowing air directly on the inner hardware? -

Do not remove the baseplate, you may cause the system to fail. I suggest finding a cooler that can handle actually cooling the system. Check this out:

this is hands down the BEST cooler for this rig. As a matter of fact, it was designed to cool this rig specifically. Well, the OCZ/M17 rig.. Check it out, by CoolIT - freakin sweet.altho, it may not be available just yet..

wowza, that thing's a beast. might have to review one of those...

yeah my NC-1000 is an awesome notebook cooler, but it isn't keeping my temps down anymore.
the drivers i have increased my temps quite a bit, however, they run games the best. since the m9750 is the older version of the m17, perhaps i might upgrade this to have the fans in the back as well. anyone else have comments on the NZXT fan? -
Have tried the Zalman and the NZXT. Prefer the NZXT. Seems to work slightly better but both are good.

bleh that thing isn't portable at all... and $150 is there estimated price... thats just stupid..
-
portable? why do people get coolers? cause they're gaming..or running something intense that requires it. Well, how portable is this rig? Kinda, not the greatest.. and you're worried bout a portable cooler?
that cooler is meant for this rig, when used with Extreme CPUs. Heck, if not running OCd this thing runs cool as ice.
