I'm trying to decide on the best specs for the buck for the M15x.

    Opinions on:

    2.4 GHZ and a single 9800MGTS vs one with a 2.5 GHZ with ATI 3870 and/or 8700M ?

well the first question is what res are you going for 1440*900 or 1920*1200?

if your going with the m15x:
get the 19x12 screen...it is a matte, but more real estate on the screen.
get the 9800m gpu. you only get one card to put in, and the 9800m is the best bet for it right now.
if you can, swing the 2.5 and cut costs with memory upgrading from places like newegg.
aside from that, drop a few alternatives to what you are thinking in build terms and several will be willing to offer opinions and/or alternate configs...

    til then...

You can upgrade almost all the options yourself for less money. This does assume that you have a small phillips head screw driver and decent hand/eye coordination. The AW website will show you how to do many of these upgrades to a point. They will even warranty certain upgrades.

I purchased the m15x with the low-res glossy number *SHAKES FIST at AW for no 1650-1080 option* and a 9800m GT because games were priority one for me, and I couldn't find GTs anywhere else. Only GTSs. I also got the fancy keyboard as I'm a tool. (the double type fail just got me on t- OO-l LOL.)

Anywho, I estimate I'll get a 128GB G.Skill SSD when they drop down a bit, and I think I might get a T9500 after my year warranty's up. Although if the hinges get iffy I might try to negotiate an extension on my year before it's up. Anyone know if this is possible?

I had 4GB of memory waiting for it's arrival from newegg. (I think it showed up on my doorstep eight seconds before i clicked confirm.) Also, already bought a smart bay batt and empty HD smart bay for less than $100 shipped.

The 1920x1200 isn't necessarily better. If you're looking to play games at a higher fps the smaller res is better, and that has been proven. But the 1920x1200 is much better if you plan to use it outside at any time. I did plenty of research before I decided on the Clearview instead of the 1920.

    Hi

why do you think the "big screen" is realy so mutch better? I heard of some, that the "big screen" makes things on the 15" display too smal ... and, as Napalm sad, nativ ress playing looks a good pice better, and:

    T9300
    +
    9800m

should give you good performance even at Crysis.

    Greetings
    Julian

Edit: with 4gb ram (and 64bit Vista) you pay around 1,505 pound / 1,849 doller / 1.754 euro
