So my new lappy will be here in a few days :D

I need a good idea for a backpack that can carry the laptop, and a fair amount of accessories (an external hard drive, ethernet cable, mouse, game controller)

The only thing I can find is the Orion Backpack made by AlienWare, this is fine with me, just wondering if there was anything else out there.

    Thanks!

Cool, well it doesn't need to be huge, just enough for the laptop, the above mentioned stuff, and maybe a few books.

Thanks for the help though I appreciate it. What specifically do you like about the backpack?

Swiss gear are real nice too. The material is extremely durable as well.

    Rob41... any specific models?

And Mr.Moo, I just checked out the Targus, it does look nice. And the price is right too, cheaper than the orion. I'm leaning towards that somewhat.

The Slappa Spyder bag looks neat. Trying to see if it is bigger than the Targus bag.

The best thing about the Swiss gear bags is the robust zippers and very, very durable fabric. And they look good too.

It looks like it is between the swiss and the slappa, the slappa review on this site though says it is water repellant. This is very attractive to me, since I will be traveling from class to class and it is common to rain right when i go outside :)

    Is the swiss water repellant?

Not sure. It's a very tight weave of nylon but I don't know if it's treated to repell water.

I've been using the Orion backpack for about a year now, it's great, but probably not as water resistant as you're looking for. The zippers don't have flaps to cover them from water seeping in.

i have a swiss gear for my m15x.
i would recommend them as much as i would the m15x.
as far as water repellant...i have walked from place to place, car to door, car to car, etc....the most traveled would be under 100yds.
in that travel length, the pack was damp, but nothing inside got wet.
of course, in higher and heavier downpours i did not just walk either... :D

Water proofing spray for leather shoes and leather bags works well on nylon as well. Just another layer of protection.
