    Hi all,

I was wondering if there are certain configs/components to choose/avoid when configuring a m17x that will reduce the chance of problems with latency and stuttering.

I am deciding between just getting an ASUS 73JH (single 5870) to avoid such problems, or getting a m17x off the US outlet site.

Does whether you get a quad over dual core, or get 280gtx SLI over 4670 SLI make a difference, or is it all just luck of the draw?

If I get the m17x I would want SLI for performance.

    Cheers!

I think the NVidia model is gone. There are all ATI HD4870's right now...

    So, no SLI at all.

I intend getting one off the dell outlet site, refurbished or cancelled/scratch dent etc. They have both the NVdia and ATI there at times.

If the difference between the G73 and the outlet's M17x(4870x2+RGB LED screen) is more than 400$, - I say screw the outlet. It's a hit and miss with a refurbed high-end rig (what if it was in the hands of some OC'ers and both the GPUs and mobo are half way dead?). Plus, the warranty is usually limited for those.
There are many positive and negative feedbacks for both systems. So, in the end it's up to you.

Get the M17x-R2 (the one with the Core i5 or i7 CPUs) and you should be fine when it comes to DPC Latency related stuttering.
