Something seems very weird. On Ebay someone is selling brand new m15x's for really cheap prices. You guys might want to be careful. Just a heads up.

and isn't it curious that they say no shipping to Nigeria?

isn't it curious that the seller is selling nothing but high priced electronics, and has very low feedback? anyone who bids is a fool.

Stolen maybe? I don't trust it though since he has a M5550 picture there.

Edit: It could maybe be legit since he has 3 up for auction. Maybe he is thinking that he can get more money for them on ebay or something or he knows people will bid high. Then again they could be stolen so he is just selling them for whatever he can get.

I'm reporting him on ebay. He shouldn't have a picture of a M5550 on there, and the M15x hasn't been out for 3 months so there should be more than 3 months left on the warrenty.

thats a beauty two shots of the front view from the AW website (showing microphones and 2.0mpix camera (it really says that on the aw site)

and the 5550 pic also on there, what a laugh, its some plonker trying to defraud someone he doesnt have the laptop

what he will do is send a box recorded/registered post you sign for the package open it, and its some old rubbish broken laptop, and when you complain, he goes

oh no, "this is always happening to me" I fear the package has been tampered with,

this happened to my son with concert tickets!!!

People sell notebooks with pictures from the official companies. He sells them starting at low prices, then hopes they'll reach market value (that's why you see so many auctions start at $.01 or $.99 on eBay). Also, he says he won't ship to Nigeria because whenever people request items to be shipped to Nigeria, they're always scams (I've had requests to ship to Nigeria before). Anyway, even if it was a scam, as long as you pay with PayPal you're guarenteed to get your money back, so I see nothing wrong with those auctions.

With paypal, you can get up to $2000 back. The bids on one was around $2600 last I checked.

And it also is not a guarantee that you will get anything back from paypal. You could possibly get your money back, but you also could possibly be very royally screwed

either way i think in order to sell you need a legit credit card number so if you did get gipped you can compain to ebay and they'll probably more than likely take what you paid to him and transfer it to you. happened to me once anyways. though i ordered a 10 dollar thing and instead received a Target gift card for 100...darn good mistake from the seller. boy did he get a good rating from me...

I asked him "Is this a scam?" and he replied with

    Dear Customer,

No we are not scammers. we existed for over 3 years already, and we have many parters who is currenly working with ebay. We decided to move our market to ebay to try it out, and so far it is looking good.

First of all - "Item is new, sealed in a box. Warranty left: 9 month"

The system hasn't been out for 3 months, like someone previously said. The guy is a scammer PERIOD. The guy is falsely advertising and it's pathetic.

"NEW Alienware Area-51® m15x laptop, factory sealed. HOT"

Yea - he probably will send you an Alienware box that was set on fire. Enjoy!

But - as I said... He might send you an m15x.. who knows - but either way it's false advertising because there's no way there would only be 9 months left on the warranty and he has a picture of a m550

I love ebay. Ever since I purchased a Sidekick 3 and got sent THREE Sidekick 3's. Hehe a nice $600 profit. You just always have to buy from the powersellers. They have so many listings to manage that mistakes like that sometimes happen :)

nonono, not a box that IS on a fire - but a box that HAS been set on fire. Although, your version of a mail man delivering a box that's on fire would be hilarious lololol.

ok in the first reply to a customer request this "steve" (no surname?) uses pretty bad grammar in the text and signs it Leikos Customer Service

in the second one its just customer service....(getting lazy?)

the thing about these scams is that they can be caught out, as they try to get you deeper and deeper in by looking like they run a real customer service department.

do a search for 419 scambaiting to see some of the hilarious some great web vigilantes do.

the thing to do is to contact him saying you have oooh 3k to spend, but you need to get the funds released.

oh and the ominous (we dont ship to nigeria) is a BIG clue!
if they were going to exclude dodgy countries they would have included north korea, and others in their list.

time to look up Leikos :)

nope closest thing to anything gaming/computer related is a Leikos warcraft realm :)

most sellers of notebooks that are good sellers will not mind removing just the laptop for a second only to get the serial number. just tell them that its a big price and you'll buy i after you get the serial number and confirm it. otherwise just don't buy it and wait about a month and they'll be on ebay like white on rice.

Alienware only honors its product warranties to the original purchaser, so it doesn't matter how long he says the warranty has left. That alone is enough to notify eBay of fraud.

I've had two replies from Steve ... he just keeps ignoring that the m15x was not available 3 months ago, and the fact that Alienware warranties are not transferable. Whether it's a scam, or he/they are just uninformed, I don't know.

I'm actually wondering if he has 3 m5550s, and is trying to sell them as m15x's? Maybe intentionally, or just not too knowledgeable?

Anyway, feel sorry if someone gets scammed, especially if they end up paying full price.

About warranty, we messed up on the action a little bit. First of all, the middle picture is a M5550 alienware laptop-it's the one that has 9 months warranty left on it. This one has full 12 months warranty. Unit is sealed, and we cannot provide you with a real picture. If you would be interested in a picture of a box, please, let me know.

say something like - we want to see a picture of someone holding the box up and holding up 3 fingers... That will be real then
also say if they can't do that, they are violating the ic3 standards - they can't post fradulant posts by saying "we'll send u pics" if they dont
