    Hey guys I got my M17 back in Jan 09. I just ordered the X9100 extreme core 2. I was wondering If it was necessary for me to update my bios before I install the new cpu. Also will the current bios allow for over clocking with the extreme cpu?

    no just drop it in


    better to upgrade to Zfactors .28 though for easy and better overclocking

    alienware BIOS does not allow overclocking but you can overclock with SetFSB


    Zfactors BIOS allows for overclocking using multipliers which means better overclocking

    as a heads up, the Alienware command center will not work properly with a non Alienware bios (I believe?)
