Alienware has had some of the better Black Friday deals in the past few years. I'm hoping they keep up the trend because an m11x around $600 would be close to an impulse buy for me. Typically, most laptops are $100 off at their base configurations, with the possibility of hundreds off of more expensive models. I figure this thread is a good heads up to those who think Alienware may not have deals worth waiting for in three weeks. Want to speculate about this year's deals?

EDIT: The Black Friday sale is live on Alienware's site!

I agree $600-700 w/tax would be a confimred buy for me. Suprised AW is holding its prices steady with the 11" macbook air that just came out. I know its a different class of laptop, but still. I don't even want the i5/i7 just the that juicy 335m and backlight keyboard :) I would love this as my second portable system, because it looks very durbale, and I would not be worried about tossing it in a backpack. However I cant help think that early 2011 the m11x is going to make gaming history again with an even better mobile gpu, and thinner design.

Well all but the hinger are durable. Mines in need of a new one since I can't even use it. Hopefully this weekend since I just got back to the states.

Well, the 11" MacBook Air is less than half the thickness of the m11x and can achieve performance about 2/3 as good, so I'd say it would be a good bet that the next m11x is either significantly more powerful or significantly thinner.

Not everybody wants an ipad like computer, not everyone wants something with an apple on it or even similar. You are talking about 2 very different consumers when comparing an apple consumer to an alienware consumer in most cases. The 11" macbook air is nothing but an ipad on steroids with a keyboard and much higher price. Now do I agree with the fact that Alienware could use some major improvements on the M11x? Definitely. But do I think the Macbook anything is a direct competitor or threat in the competition field? Probably not in most cases.

Its not an "iPad on steroids" it runs a full blown operating system (s). By this logic I could just say the m11x is a zune on steroids. I think there both pretty similar products the m11x and 11 MBA. Same exact screen size and resoultion, price range, similar perforamnce, etc. Both have redfenined the worlds idea about what a 11" laptop could be. There both the "luxury sport coupes" on the notebook world. Oh and its surely a worthy competitor imo, but im not going to say "direct" because that term is vauge and we have no marketing data to project that.

I think i remember last year best deal dell had was there Studio XPS i think you could get one starting price of 600 dollars

i think the M15x cheapest model was like 1250

and i think the M17x they had a really good build for like 2000 but that was before the I7 was in them

but im betting they will chances are have atleast 700 for a M11 i dont think they will be more than that

    haggle question
best your gona get from dell is maybe they will give you 3 percent of there sale price if you use a dell prefered acount and they might upgrade you to next day delivery for free but thats probably the best aditional priceing they will give

they also might have somethign where you get a 75 dollar gift card for upgrading one of the higher gpu's
or for gettign the better warranty

but remember with Alienware ware and dell usualy the best deals discounts come from higher performance already higher prices

how ever you can also get a cheap isperion for like 225 dollars if im corect but no chance in hell of them gicing you free shipping on it lol

sometimes but usualy not if they are already on sale
best thing to do is call not order onliine but call
if you have a DFS account your usuing to pay they will give you atleast a 3 percent adition discount
and if your a good customer they might give you free next day shipping
but if its already on sale those are just possible to get free shipping ntohgine ls

i have bought over 7 systems from them in the last 4 years for friends and family and 4 systems for myself they track me as a customer becaus ethey see how much i have avalabel a 19,000 dell financial credit limit becaue they see the avg what i spend is around 700 on a system for a friend or family for a gift for myself i think the cheapest i ever got was like 1300
i also buy tv's a new one every 2 years ones the extended warranty is up sell it on crigslist
they are preaty tight about giving further discounts if anyone would know it would be me lol
but sometims you get a good rep where if you buy a updgrate that comes with a gift card that would be mailed ot you in say 8 weeks of purchase sometimes a good rep will be able to get you credit for that onto your system

The Main thing to do is Get the System build you like but talk to someoen on the phone to build it up and order it go along with them online to figure the price and specs and then when all is said and doen be like u know i relly dont think i can aford this tell them youd have to call back tomrorow or latter if you decide to they will be more open to making a deal if any before you get off th ephone

I lament the death of the period . . .

    :p

But on topic. Yes, there is still SOME room for haggle even with 'on-sale' items. Just not another 20% - which is usually the max you can get even with haggling.

Well I tried to haggle down on a new m11x and no dice. Not ever free overnight shipping. I told him I was concerned with the black friday that the price would drop. The sales guy said that alienware don't really have big sales during thanksgiving compared to other models. so what gives?

Alienware started a deal today that will easy get you at least a hundred dollars off of your system. I wonder if they will have even better Black Friday deals or if they're just starting their November sale early. A m11x is very tempting, but I'd really be persuaded to buy it if it's refreshed this month since I don't like purchasing products towards the end of their revision cycles.

they would not be starting there Black Friday Sale this early its just a november special probably
but there black friday specials wont even start to be advertised untill a few days before black friday knwoing dell
and then you have to wait till like 2am usualy that morning to start building at there special black friday prices

now also remember that if you builod a system they give you like 2 or 3 days usualy to save that price quate and make sure you get the same price i think that they let you do this on all sale prices
so make sure you email yourself your shopping cart just incase you dont have the money right then but dont take my word on that

Just so everyone is clear. Black friday is the day after Thanksgiving in the US, since Thanksgiving is always the fourth Thursday of November. It is labeled as the biggest sale day for ALL retail companies and Dell is no exception.

I have had luck getting discounts even after BF sale prices. You just have to be sure to include the warranty. That's the secret. And have a willing salesperson.

Dell makes WAY more money off of the warranties than the actual hardware. Apparently they sell warranties for something like 70%+ of their systems and only have a ~5% return (this is from a manager at Dell).

I want to buy my first alienware... but there are two things stopping me...

No 470M on the m17x and no RGB LED for m15x

I want them to update one of those and then I will buy it.

But if the Black Friday deal is REALLY good... then I might cave in.

I'm gonna assume all of Alienware's laptops are at the cheapest price they have been this year. The m11x is just at a great price and it's their most popular laptop, so it's their featured deal.

The Black Friday sale is pretty weak if the only real deal is the $600 Core 2 M11x. I was hoping for a $700 Core i5 model, too. You're sort of crazy if you pay 60% more for a small performance increase, so it sucks that there's a $350 difference to get the Core i5.
