I prefer the silver... it blows the black out of the water. Poor people that waited such long time just for the black.

I just aim for the Big Black M17X. I would of gone for the M15X if it had the two tone black and silver look. Like the area 51 5550I

Certain comments seem too absurd and I have to make my point. Just that... :)

Bad news guys.. i don't seem to be able to bring up the black rip in the 360 view on ALienwares website any more..

maybe this is to boost demand for the silver skullcap... shrugs

fingers crossed its gets made offical soon :( QQ

you've got a winner there; you should work for AW's design dept. ;)

anyway, this is great news, especially since this does appear to be matte black, not gloss black. black ripley looks sick (it was my original favourite but since I'm running white AlienFX it is probably better to have gotten the silver ripley anyway)

OMG the new GAYcap design leaked? This means they must have redesigned the whole m15x now with 9800GTX SLI!

Yeah, Alienware removed the secret black view from the 360 thing, probably from reading my thread on these forums. There's still screens of the black m15x on the first page. My point is, if they take the time to make a 360 degree angle of the black m15x, they must have something coming.

The Skullcap will look better if it comes with a matte finishing. I don't like the glossy surfaces.. just a thought...

And here I thought I was the only one thinking that :D
Was hoping we'd get a leak on that actually *Sigh*
You thinking of getting one when it comes out ?

Here's a wee theory (using entirely random figures):

Lets say 33% of m15x potential buyers want silver.
    33% don't care
    33% want black

By staggering releases they avoid overwhelming demand at one time, keeping down their already poor system build times to a (note the coming inverted commas) "minimum".

By waiting so long, lots of those who wanted black systems buy silver out of bordem, or nescessity, reducing the scrum upon the black systems release (although admittedly they probably lose a number of customers altogether). Then they can release the black version (probably just the ripley for a bit first; on the same basis) when demand lets up significantly and they can avoid astronomical waiting times for customers.

Just a theory, from someone who knows sweet FA about business, and marketing and all that jazz :D
