should do the trick yes
-
kk.. its just the lappy is 100$ thing, and its burning at 2x
-
that's ok so it costs as much as a hdd for your laptop i hope we can save you the money
-
this extensive action is only to look if the partition is set to active LOL and if not to do so.
small chance but had to do it several times in the nt4 days -
ok i have some warning message about that PTD cant find the correct partition, and i must check out the CMOS or something
-
i clicked ok theen it told me about some sector error correction, what should i do?
-
bad news maybe still you maybe wiped the partition during prior actions. Sector erro is bad but can be a standard message when there is no partition. can you make a partition with it?
-
if not you can run the xp setup and while it starts to copy break action it will have made the partition we want
-
after i click YES or NO tat thing freezes
-
then boot again from the tooldvd and we will have a definite answer
-
well XP is another problem now, when it starts setup i get a Black screen... the only way i can access Partition is the recovery DVD. and i think i already done a partition
-
i rebooted my Comp, and had the same error with the dvd
-
hmmmm so when you boot from xp cd you get a black screen? shutdown power and try again plz
-
some divide error..
-
This is why you don't downgrade to windows xp.
windows xp was a great operating system, as 98.7 percent of people use windows. It was meant to be used on 1-5 year OLD computers... -
hmmm what kind of hdd you have? do you know?
-
there are tools from the manufacturer of the hdd to check the hdd itself
-
Sir Travis, i dont have time for your crap now,SSurreal when i try to boot up XP it says thata its configuring hardware or something then it blacks..
-
SSurreal i dont know.. its the one of 100gb 7200RPM that alienware offfers
-
all your actions are software related and cannot destroy your hardware you should know.
now,.. do you know the size of your disk so i can guess what brand hdd you have -
ok that would be a hitatchi 200GB prob 1 moment I will look for hdd tools from hitachi to check your disk
-
100gb
, and are you sure that the HDD isnt gone forever, i mean if i get an external HDD from my bro with lets say XP SP2 on it, will i be able to fix the first one?
-
The drive test is for checking errors on your disk if so your disk is a goner and should be replaced however you say 100? i was expecting m15x 200gb my mistake. in that case i really have to know what brand plz check your bios for the name or number
-
ok Ssurreall, and Sir Travis i thought you was making a joke about my situation, sorry
-
Seagate Momentus 100gb 7200RM
-
considering his first message you may assume he was like i said it has nothing to do with you trying another OS lmao
-
k looking for seagate tools.......................
-
Ok I have not read all of this, but I know that after installing xp it messed it up. If all else fails, use the restore thing. Also if even that fails, you could buy a better hdd for like $200 and use the disk on that.
again I have no idea what the situation but those are my suggestions -
i cant buy anything, all i have is another external USB 100GB HDD
-
kk SS working on it
-
if you really read the posts you would have seen he allready did that
-
so when you have it you need to burn it like exactly like you did before
-
by the way the usb hdd cannot be used for your pc unless you can boot from usb so easier is to take it out of its shell and replace it with the one in your computer which is an easy operation IF the seagate is broken
-
ok 1 sec brb g2 reboot this crappy shizzle., meanwhile...tell me how to replace the HDD just in case everything getss dirty
-
k first we need to know whether they have the same interface sata or pata do you know what i'm talking about?
-
wait 1 sec.. now gonna try the boot disk
-
you could talk to alienware tech support
-
ok. i did put it in and a seagate boot came up
-
Sir Travis D they tell me some book answeres like check support.alienware.com..
-
k since i have no ata seagate disks here i need to know what you see but most probable you can do some integrity tests if that's correct english
-
some quick stuff did run, then it said thank you for using seatools for DOS. a lost of test log files is available by typing DIR *.log at the C: prompt. press CTRL+ALT+DEL to reboot
-
also it says something like volume in drive C: is turbodsk
-
allright for your information: you need not worry i'm a IT pro for over 12 years my speciality is network solutions. And i got some time on my hands is the correct expression i believe
-
you don't need to reboot just yet but try escape to turn to dos or some other method to get to the logfile I hope the have a texttool on the cd
-
i see, you are talking like a pro you know..
-
it does not seem to be broken otherwise i would expect a stop in the test or some error message
-
so.. what should i do now?
-
SeaTools for DOS will instruct the drive to run its built in Drive Self Test (DST) and give either a pass or fail status. If you are troubleshooting your disc drive and the DST passes, then you have a good drive. Is what seagate says you didn't see either?
-
erm.. i didnt see anything like that.. it just loaded up a bit then the thank you message
