I have a Alienware M15x (see sig for specs if needed), and suddenly my blu-ray player keeps freezing, even before you can play the movie.
I have tested it out before and it has worked well twice where I've watched movies on it. I tested the same Disc I have used (The Chronicles of Riddick) and suddenly the picture just freezes, but the timer continues to tick along.
    I am using PowerDVD8.

A little help needed, thanks guys.

    Hi Jubbing,

I had that issue one time too. It seems to have something to do with the sound. When PowerDVD8 tries to initialize the sound driver, it freezes. I was able to alleviate this a few times by doing a "cold" boot (shut down, pull battery, and hold down power button, then putting battery back in and starting up). The combination of the latest sound drivers (from support site), PowerDVD8, and a fresh boot seems to resolve it most of the time. Good luck!

If you are having trouble with powerdvd8 try windvd. Unfortunately there aren't many players out there that support blu ray yet.

Yea.. it might just be the blu ray reader problem.. so I might just call up Dell and tell them to replace it (as a new version of the blu ray players from sony work much better).
But I'll try that hardboot way first.. just to make sure!
