I order an Alienware m17x-R2 on Feb 3rd and it didnt give me an option for a bluray burner or BluRay player for my build. Just gave me an option for the DVD burner so thats what I went with. Now if you go to customize a m17x-R2 it gives the option to have a BluRay Burner in the laptop. My order is in the "In Production" stage but I want to change it to include the BluRay Burner. How do I go about doing this? Do I just call them and tell them to change the drive to a BluRay Burner? It says that if its in the "In Production" stage that you cant change your order. What should I tell them if I call to get them to change it? That if they dont then I dont want it? I called the secret number thing to check the real order status and its in the build process. Also, I always get someone that doesnt speak very good english and doesnt really care about my order. So if someone can give me a number where I can actually talk to someone who speaks english and how I would go about convincing Dell to to change the Drive to the BluRay Burner I would greatly appreciate it. On top of this, they have delayed my order twice!!!

just call them and tell them what you want them to do ..
call team blackhawk -
And thats it? It says on the order site that it cant be changed once its in production. And who is Team Blackhawk?
-
google team black hawk
Dell can do anything they want to your order -
How do i call that Team BlackHawk? They are associated with dell? http://www.facebook.com/pages/Dell-...s/Dell-USA-Team-Blackhawk/107381810655?v=info
800 953 6014 ext. 2169508 Their extension doesnt work anymore. -
-
Yes, i went to the team blackhawk site before and the number and extension they provide doesnt work. The number does but not the extension.
-
I just used it a couple days ago ...
They clearly are still there based on the facebook page hummm try again when they are open....
They are all american and based in texas FYI -
here's team blackhawk's number that works for sure.
1-800-879-3355 -
Ya, that number worked. They should be able to help me get my order changed to have the BluRay Burner?
-
well, it's worth trying, i suspect that they will cancel and reorder though.
Also, if you ordered through epp like many here i doubt that they will be able to help. -
I ordered through WWW.alienware.com not epp
-
yeah, that means you actually ordered from dell's website.
And blackhawk is the way to go for you. -
So, their facebook wasn't very informative. Are they another escalation team? I've been having trouble with my M1730 and Dell finally decided to send me an m17x (According to the order on my account), but the graphics card isn't right and I want to pay to upgrade the proc. Of course every time I call I get transferred around 7 times and told nobody can do anything to help until I receive the computer. At which point they'll probably say I'm SOL.
Left a message on the facebook page though to see if I can get some assistance. -
*Not related to OP's Question; Related to topic though...
Does anyone know why adding the the Blu-ray "READER" gives a 'Conflict with Operating System' but adding the Blu-ray "BURNER" does not? Basically - its' not letting you add the Blu-ray reader at this point ... only the Blu-ray burner. So what do you do if you want just the reader / not the burner? -
Someone brought it up in another thread. Looks like it's just a glitch... people have been able to order it just fine over the phone.
-
its stupid...(messed up)

I think it was in the m17x eta thread or the owners lounge. Par for the course these days it seems.
As for Team Blackhawk, that was some prompt help! They'd already responded to my Facebook post when I got online this morning and I just finished talking to them a few minutes ago. Unfortunately, they couldn't help me out with SLI. The tech guy that was consulted said that a single 260m has better performance than an 8800m GTX SLI setup. I was pretty sure I had read that that is NOT the case, but according to them that's all they can do for me.
Oh well! The good new is that my replacement is a new computer and not another refurb. Guess I'll just have to looking into buying the parts later. -
Ya, the only way I can get the BluRay Burner added to my configuration is cancel my order and reorder. Damnit, im never gonna get this laptop. Cant I just order the BluRay burner later and install it myself? Or can I not do that since its an internal slot loaded drive? I can do it, I work at ProTech Computing Services and I'm a technition here and I take apart laptops all the time and replace motherboards and stuff so Im sure I could figure it out if they had the BluRay Burner for sale individually but they only have the dvd burner for sale individually.
-
cant i just install the blue ray player later? or is that somthing the techs have to do?
-
Depends on your comfort level in taking apart the machine.
Pretty easy to do, IMO. -
how much would it cost cuz i want the bluray but im not willing to cancel this order and wait another month
-
Just call TeamBlack Hawk and they will Expidite you shipping if you reorder.
-
I called Team BlackHawk and he cancled and reordered my same order but just changed the drive to the Dual Layer BluRay Burner and is expiditing my order whch he told me turns the M17xR2 build time in half from 22 days to about 10 days.
BluRay Burners for the m17x-R2 now.
