Ok ive recently purchased this laptop,

    Alienware M15x - Cosmic Black, Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium,64bit

    Intel® Core™ i3-330M 2.13GHz (3M cache)

    4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1066MHz

    15.6-inch WideHD+ 1600x900 (900p) WLE

    512MB NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 240M

and im sitting here thinking, (more like waiting for it to show up in the mail) and i cant help but wonder if the extra 2 gb 800MHz chip i have from my last laptop could be installed on my new one once it arrives. Also i have a Toshiba satellite L305D with a broken screen, so im thinking i might be able to part it out, the hhd im saving for a backup so when my 500 or my 320 ever crash on me ill be safe..

could u guys check and see if any of the parts from this POS laptop could be encorporated in my newest addition to my computing force, i mean.. its a dual core processor nd its kinda nice nd what not..

    thanks ahead of time.

keep in mind, the 4 gb's im already pushing is 1066MHz

possibility that trying to use (if it would even fit) 800MHz Ram would make all 6 gb's run at 800 MHz?
if so i think i should part out this laptop and start my 2 x 4gb ddr3 @1066 ram stick fund.

No, you can't use the old ram in your new M15x.

1 There only two slots for the M15x.

2 The 800mhz Ram chips would make the faster 1066MHz Ram chips run slower.

3 The only good use for the 800mhz ram chips would be for Troubleshooting if you have ram problem on this system.

The 800Mhz will probably not fit into the M15x anyway. DDR2 module will not be compatible with the DDR3 slots in the M15x.

The 4GB you bought come as 2x2 GB DDR3 modules. You will not have the habilty to add ram. You have to change at least one of these two modules by a 4GB (or one 'soon to be release' 8GB module) in order to have more ram.

I am not a moderator of this forum, but could I still ask you to stop posting this question all over the forum?

I have to agree with Wattos. If you are going to post 15 questions do it on one tread.
