Hello guys, I have finally decided after a long search to buy a laptop, mainly for playing games, some photo editing and coding.
I really like the alienware 17 r4 but few things concern me...
There are alot of customers complaining about the high temperatures, so my concern is that, if I buy it now, will I get a model with decent cooling or I have to repaste with IC diamond or something?

And I'll probably get the QHD 120hz display, is the line issue fixed?

Also is it a good idea to buy it from hidevolution.com and have them put IC diamond on CPU and GPU or I should just order one from amazon.com?
I'll get the one with 7700HQ CPU and gtx 1070 .
    Thanks in advance :)

HIDevolution uses different thermal materials, including Grizzly Conductonaut on the CPU and Gelid GC Extreme on the GPU, Fujipoly Thermal pads and proper alignment of the heatsinks....they fix what Alienware does wrong at the factory. In addition to their stress testing and quality control so you are sure to receive a laptop that works great out of the box. In addition, they have their own technical support so you won't be solely at the mercy of Dell's customer service/tech support but you have a far better tech support with HIDevolution.

As for the screen query, the screen is the new version - AUO B173QTN01.4 which doesn't have the banding issues so you're good there as well.

If you email [email protected] with the model / specifications you want, you may be able to get a small discount if you tell him your NBR Forum username in addition to their regular 2.5% cash discount as well.

see the different models here and how you can customize the specs, they offer way more upgrade options than Dell in terms of RAM, SSDs, etc.: Alienware 17 R4

    From HIDevolution's site, it says: 17.3 inch FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS Anti-Glare 300-nits Display with Tobii IR Eye-tracking

you can shoot [email protected] an email to ask about the exact screen model and whatnot and you can also ask for your NBR discount if you decide to buy from them.

They ship worldwide and have a global warranty which covers shipping costs both ways.. The thing is, with Alienware, you won't even need to upgrade to the Global Warranty because when you get your machine, you can call Dell and have the warranty on site next business day support transferred to you locally wherever you are.

I live in Dubai for example which is another reason I buy all my laptops from them for that Global Warranty as I don't wanna pay for shipping a laptop that'd drill a hole in my pocket :D

Make your own reseller company in Dubai ;)
I will be looking in Ireland or UK for Clevo resellers or new gen. Alienware since 17 R4 is so full of issues I had to gave up...

Only if you have next business day support linked to your system right?
