Resell means selling used stock, Austin computers is not a reseller but an Agent Seller for Alienware. The chinese guy that runs Alienware in Australia is a best friend of the guy called Allan Tan in Osborne Park Austin Computers according to what Allan told us.
-
here's a little known fact: everyone who buys an AW computer has an Agent #. why? because they're playing on the Area-51 top-secret theme... y'know... aliens and such?
the whole thing is dodgy, and I'm surprized you'd MAIL ORDER from a shop... I would've called Alienware myself and placed and order... you'd pay more for shipping, but at least it'd go directly from AW to you.
also, for the record. i have those same little plastic coverings, i just have an extra for the blue wire...

Man. Heathkidd is such an Alienware Fanboy. I mean no offense this is an alienware forum more power to you all but come on. You guys have to seriously stop making uncoordinated attacks on alienware and start making a coordinated one. Spending 6k on a laptop - I mean, wow dude. And - to get that kind of quality? Wow even more.
I kept itching to get this laptop instead of th m860tu but I will never ever ever get it unless I got it for free somehow. And even if I got it for free i'd use it as a stove. (no offence to those ppl who'se laptops are fine and dandy and who can play crysis on their 8800gtx without downclocking one bit-there's probably not alot of you guys though) -
www.austin.net.au is their website
here is the direct url to their advert: http://www.austin.net.au/Alienware/WhyAlienware/tabid/159/Default.aspx -
I think this notion of deception law braking etc needs to be stopped its un-based and unreasonable deformation which is not legal in the nation you are talking about. But i guess this is the internet and we can wildly say any thing we want.

http://www.alienware.com.au/authorisedagent/
ALienware Australia has had that site up for well over 6months. Australia has ALienwares sold in retail stores... get over it.
and i suggest ever one does some research before opening mouths or wallets.
/thread?
DRTH_STi .. i am a massive Fan of ALienware and im extreamly hyped for my m15x and ive read every horror story on this board .. wonder why?.
FYI im guessing you will be suprized about the heat output of the M860TU also and you should admit the 9800m GTX from your wish list its not going to happen in the M860TU . -

Lol after going to that authorised agent link, Austin computers does not meet any criteria.
Authorised Agent Criteria:
Minimum order quantity: 10 units per quarter
Mandatory purchase and maintained in-store presence of Deployment Pack items
Minimum in-store display of one desktop and one notebook at all times
Comply with Alienware’s Authorised Agent Agreement and business policies
The only Alienware they got on display was my brand new m15x that was supposed to be tucked away inside the box it was shipped with. -
-
Did I miss something? -
hes the other person who bought the m15x from austin computers. the same thing happened to him where they left his m15x for display and played around with the m15x before giving it to him.
-
oh -__-
i see; thanks for clearing that up. -

Chaz is right, but let's not mis-inform people. There was only one case like this at Austin, not two.

Sorry guys, I've been gone for some time so I haven't followed this thread, but we have confirmation from AW staff that installing the BIOS does not void the warranty.
I can search for the post if it hasn't been mentioned already -
I always notice when a company like Alienware decides to be their own ODM and produce a computer completely designed by them, more problems become common. My friend has a M7700 (Clevo D900C) and he hasn't had any problems with it. He Even upgraded his video cards and hard drive with no issues or stuff like bad screws.
-
@Ichime - Alienware wasn't their own ODM they had their notebook manufactured by Quanta
Only 2 or 3 companies actually are the ODM of their computers. -
-
@Ichime - I was just saying that their most recent notebooks (M9700, M9750, M15x, M17x) were all manufactured by Quanta.
Yes I know that there previous notebooks were Uniwill P71/P72 (M5500, M5550) and that the M7700 was just the D900.
I was just trying to say that they weren't their own ODM on the m15x they just made a deal with quanta so that no one else could use what they were using. -
I would argue that the M9700 and the M9750 were not manufactured by Quanta, but by Arima.

Here's another horror story that i believe you can find information on if you search these forums. I decided to paste it here as well because it seemed appropriate.
I purchased an AlienWare m9750 thinking that it fully supported 4 gigs of ram (if i upgraded the OS). They clearly advertise that their system can support 4 gigabytes of ram otherwise i would not have gone ahead and made the transaction. When i received the laptop, i upgraded to windows vista ultimate x64 but to unlock all 4 gigs but to no avail. My laptop still only used 3 gigs of ram.
I called them up and the first tech rep told me i had to get windows vista sp1 so i did. The computer correctly displayed that i had 4 gigs of ram now, however, in task manager and dxdiag it still reported that only 3 gigs were being used. To follow up on this i opened up bios and read that the computer knew it had 4 gigs but the OS could only use 3. i called them up again and asked what the problem was and the new tech rep yelled at me and said "Call Microsoft because no computer out there can use more than 3 gigs of ram at once".
I found this very difficult to believe so i took to the net to look up solutions. At once i came onto this thread here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=185131
After reading through i learned that not only does the bios not support 4 gigs of ram, but neither does the chipset.
So to conclude; of course they never bothered releasing and supporting a x64 OS or a bios for a 64bit operating system at AlienWare. They do not even have the hardware to fully support 4 gigs of ram.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not losing one nights sleep over just being unable to use 1 extra gig of ram. However, it does infuriate me that they lied to me and that they advertised a 4 gig ram system when clearly the laptop could only handle 3. This is not a healthy business practice and I feel decieved.
I'm curious to know every ones thoughts on this and what i should do. -
-
im not using the sli feature
-
ahaha i think im the only smart one getting complete care warranty XD not ordering from the Alienware site... ordering from Dell instead... if anything happens to my notebook... including being stolen... theyll fix it for me or get it back
-
@Ichime - Yea I meant the M9700 + the M9750 are ArMIa. Lol talking about all the models is getting me crazylol.
-
-
-
i just read his other thread, go check it out. i'm kinda skeptical though.
-
Oodle-Bear Alienware Mug, Testpilot
I guess that the lesson is, do not buy Alienware notebooks from anyone but, Alienware...
It's a sad tale but as soon as he/she admitted not buying from AW, i switched off... Sorry but, unless it's a legit dealer, i wouldn't consider it, even if it was cheaper. (Although in this case not cheaper)

whats the current situation with tyrone/ladyap's dilemma? refunded?
-
-
No one knows... they got banned. I'm not sure if he still wanders free in the world...
-
however, his/her(?) fate is pretty irrelevant to direct AW customers, i would think.
we can't determine how many errors were caused by whatever the austincomputers people did to it or what was simply wrong with the m15x to begin with. -
Or what was wrong with Tyronne.
-
-
Can someone please tell me why he was banned? I mean, I found him extremely irksome, but I don't think that's a reason for banning someone.
-
I saw a thread of his go up for all of two seconds once, entitled "Amazing dogfights caught on the m15x!" and then I refreshed the page and it was gone.
He must've done something to break the rules, I would think. The mods seem fair and just, from what I've seen. -
Well, I do seem to recall him making some comment to the effect that his m15x was all f***ed up because it was put together by a bunch of people who don't even know how to speak english...
That'll do it. -
Thanks Miho and Friar_Tuck. I saw the dogfight thread too, but I just ignored it, and I didn't know about the racist comment, that's definately over the top.
-
I've noticed the name of this thread forever, and only just now built up the guts to read it (on my m15x mind you
)
After going through all 9 pages of mostly inane arguement...well:
*insert satisfaction here* -
Haha, I know exactly what ur talking about. I just got my M9750 three days ago and bought 2x2gb Kingston Hyper X Memory modules to replace the original 2x512mb ones. Man was I disappointed when I entered the BIOS and saw that it reads all 4 gigs, but only uses 3gigs. Also, I hear that it goes down to 2.5 gigs if you have 2 gpus in SLi.
Nonetheless, it's still a great laptop. Screen is amazing. I hope to do more mods and experiments with it. I already replaced the palmrest with a silver one from an M9700 to give it a cooler look and I have 2 320gb 7200 rpm drives ordered for RAID0 madness. I also did a quick backwards compatibility with a 7900 GS from a M9700, and it booted with no problems. If I can get my hands on some more MXM-II or III cards, then I can make better assessments of its upgradeability. -
LOL, so it was the same person??? that's weird and then they are suddenly gone.... an NBR conspiracy?!?!
anyway thanks for this site http://alienware.pissedconsumer.com/
WOW!! a lot of people are angry at the product huh... -
One thing I learn from the Internet. You can not put race creed or color to someone you talk to on here. Unless you see a picture. Man I dont care if you are a Green Alien.
Why we are here. It it for people who have trouble on a Alienware laptop. Give support to people who have alienware laptops. Or people who love Alienware Laptops. -
thanks for the feedback guys
-
If there was an option "$500 for a PERFECT quality laptop like we make for ourselves with high quality speakers webcam and all that other crap that belongs in an already overpriced laptop" I would take it. I just want something a amazing, but these are damaged goods.
I think these m15x's are going to be a big problem for Alienware's reputation if they aren't already, and if they don't fix all these issues, then I hope Alienware goes down in flames because that's what a company that pisses on it's customers deserves.
Buying Alienware Laptop is like buying a Lemon used car look at what happened to us.
