I cant really decide on getting the alienware m17x with this build for about 1800 with tax included

or the sager 8130 with no real specific build and it would be helpful if you could link me a something that would compete with this

    problem i have is

is it really worth spending so much on the alienware?
is the alienware too bulky and flashy?
ive never really heard of sager until now so getting something unknown is kinda ehh to me

    1) Worth it? Up to you
    2) It's thicker than most laptops but it also performs better than most. Flashy? Up to you again, but you can turn the lights off on the laptop
    3) Sager is very reliable and well known, I wouldn't doubt their quality and service

Personal opinion, m17x is to big to be daily portable IMO (G73 is horrible so I'm guessing the m17x isn't far off) the m11x is amazing for portability and has great performance for its size but unless you guy an external screen for your dorm room it's kinda hard to game on it's hard to game on a 11" screen. Also I think gaming on an m11x for 3-4 years might be stretching it even on low settings for games. I just sold my m11x and my G73 and a m14x replaced them both. It's screen is big enough to game on anytime, it gets good enough scores on benches that i think it could possibly last that long, and it's actually daily portable (I take mine to work 5 days a week). I don't know how people carry a m17x around daily because my G73 with AC adapter weighs a crap ton and is a PITA to pack and unpack all day.

Just my .02 I like my m14x a lot, especially after having a huge laptop and a little one it seems to be perfect for me.

Realize Alienware sizes are basically their screen sizes + 1.5 inches. The M11x is pretty big, it's no 11 incher, closer to 13. The M14x is almost 15.6" size, and the M17x is near 18".

Sager are Clevo rebrand, and are known for their ability to upgrade...well nearly every single component (CPU, GPU, RAM, etc).

I would avoid prebuilt desktops and build your own. Maybe if you got the money, a nice custom desktop and an M11x. :p And please don't buy an XPS laptop...horrible track record and it is ugly.

Uh, generally your shopping cart is specific to your particular web session on your specific computer, in that browser at this exact moment. You can't really share that link and have it work as it will always be an empty shopping cart for the rest of us.

16GB RAM? Overkill, but for 3-4 years, that, is needed. VERY good picks I must say, but what motherboard? The GPU could be crossfireX'd. The PSU is good. Blue Ray drive? Seriously? Question yourself if you need it, do you use disks 24/7? If not, save yourself some green$$$ and get a i7 2600k because of the Hyperthreading which might prove useful in University/College.
