Hello, i got a problem here just wondered if anyone have any idea or have been in the same position.

I am living in Switzerland and want to buy the m15x, firstly the prices for the swiss alienware site are all in euros? (we use frank here?) So i guess it is being shipped from another country into Switzerland.

My problem is that it says that VAT is included, but if it is being shipped from another country then will i have to pay import tax or some other tax on top of the price that it says at the alienware page (the last page where i have put in all my credit details and just have to push "confirm order").

It looks a little suspiciouos cause it is cheaper to buy a computer on the Swiss page than on the German page for example...

    Any help is appreciated!

I believe Switzerland is in the EU and so if buying something from another EU country you pay no import taxes at all. Only maybe VAT if Switzerland has this (thought it was only the UK who had VAT but you probably have something similar) as VAT is a tax on any non essential goods you buy

sorry if this doesn't make sense :p

Ok, problem is that Switzerland isn't a full member in the EU, they have some special treatment thingy. That is why it is confusing and i dont speak any german or french so cant read the government and post office sites! Guess i gotta call the post office up and ask them but they are even worse at speaking english than my old senile grandmother...

PS. It says on the website that Mwst (Swiss VAT) is included, does alienware pay the Swiss VAT for me then or will i be charged double VAT (VAT in country of production and in country of import)?

Not sure on the last question but if you do get charged double u'll be able to reclaim the one for the other country, i doubt u'll get charged it anyway

I translated alot of the sites about alienware Like notebookcheck.com. Which was in German. I did not see a german website for Alienware. All I type in was area m15x computers Gaming machine which translate to Spielmaschine Computer des Bereichs m15x Then use the google search with the german name. I dont think they have Alienware in German unless it is Dell? One other idea is Call your nearest Dell. Which owns Alienware. Ask them if there a way to order a alienware laptop from them.

Update: Saw now that there is no VAT added when ordering through the UK site to with delivery adress in Switzerland. So that will definitely be added, wondering if i have to pay any import duties or other fees?

Alienware has a german site, but think everyone just uses the english name for the machine.

what you can do is PM Alienware-James or Alienware-Armando. Ask them to send you the Germean website. Then use the website I gave you http://babelfish.yahoo.com. Then change it to english.

One point for you I love the Saabs from your country. I have a 2.0 900 se turbo. There great in the snow.

From what I know the equivalent of VAT in Switzerland is something like 7 to 8 % of the total value, so you shouldn't worry about it too much. As far as I know there aren't other taxes you have to pay throughout the EU (including Switzerland).

hey Svarto, welcome my fellow Swiss!! I live in canton St. Gallen, and bought my 15x a month or two ago.

I ordered from alienware.de (change the country to switzerland at the top). the price isn't correct, you'll get a letter from DHL, which will kindly ask you to pay them VAT (7.6% or what is was), after you get the laptop. don't forget this when ordering, it says VAT included on site but this isn't true.

oh and one more thing. the keyboard will be a german ( not swiss) keyboard. so some keys will be mislabeled, and some stuff will be missing. i get by though. but again, just consider this.

that' sweden you mean, mate. everyone mixes it up...

whizzo, if Alienware charges VAT (which you can see on the order page), then you will not pay it again. But now, since you don't pay VAT (apparently), you'll have to pay it.
