hey guys i have decided to buy a m17 but i have a few questions

first of all will upgrading to t9400 2.53ghz from a p8600 2.4ghz make a significant difference i will get in fps, it might be a stupid question but i seriously dont know. btw its a 145 euro upgrade.

other then that will i be able to upgrade the drive to bluray later on, since ive nevva really tried to change nethin on a laptop before. and also ive decided to buy 2gigs of ram and will upgrade later on, is this an easy process.

i kno iam a bit backwards when it comes to upgrading but plz help. btw iam from the netherlands

It won't necessarily raise your fps, but it would be a good choice to go get the 2.5 Ghz processor to avoid your cpu to become a bottleneck for future games.

While it is true most games are moer GPU demanding, there are some ( especially rts's ) that are becoming more and more CPU intensive

Also upgrading RAM form 2 GB to more GB is easy technicaly. You simply open bottom of laptop and put in new RAMs.

Problem with Alienware is I guess when you order 2GB you get 2x1GB and there are only 2 slots so if you want for egzample 4 GB you need to buy all new ram (egzample 2x2 GB). You can`t just buy 2 GB more and upgrade.

This is true with all manufacturers... it's standard procedure.

Also, Cha if the 2.4GHz is going to bottleneck so will the 2.53GHz. 130MHz is next to nothing in todays world.

Regardless of which, it's still cheaper if you buy it later and upgrade it yourself than to buy it off Alienware directly with your order.

Yes, but the thing is the 2.5 ghz processor has a 6mb cache. Would help a bit in multitaksing :)

going from the 2.4ghz to the 2.5ghz is a HUGE STEP, its like going from 2mb cache to 6mb , thats a big increase in bandwith
