I was wondering if canadian owers could post how much they saved percentage or dollars on their order? I heard its hard for us canadians to haggle a good deal? But for the people that did, i heard that 20%-30% saving is pretty common. Tell me your story. Right now the only thing stopping me from getting an alienware is the fact I can get a Asus G73 for 1600 dollars canadian and for the same price it would cost me about 2500 dollars for the alienware spec'd the exact same. So unless i can get some wicked deal through alienware thats whats holding me back. I never ever see any canadian alienware or dell coupons. But anyways tell me how much you have saved when you got your M11X, M15X or M17X
edit: This is also posted in the M17x forum by mistake i meant to put it in this one
-
I got 50 bucks on accessories
-
Overpaid by at least 200$ . Ordered through a rep
But that was before I realized that their prices are easily negotiable.
Later on I managed to get a 30% off on both Lenovo and HP workstations
Dellienware, my revenge is coming -
239 3 days delivery was free when i ordered wich is something like 7 or 6% of the total price
-
Perhaps mention to them that you were considering the vastly cheaper G73 and that you can't really consider paying out the standard price when you can get the G73 much cheaper.
That might just do the trick. I'm pretty sure the rep will go to quite a distance to secure an order. -
I got 150 Dollars off my m11x purchase as I got an instant saving of $50 in my email inbox from dell and an offer to increase my hard drive from 250-500 GB for free
-
According to the Canadian reps they can only give 5% off alien ware with the epp program. Right now Costco online has a m11x for 1249.00 delivered it is the r1 version with su7300 8 gb ram 500 gb hdd blutooth Plus they extend the warranty for another year. If you price this online at Dell it is about 1600.00.
-
I got 5% epp discount, but rep moved it up to 7% after some haggling. For the specs below in my sig plus 2 years advanced (i.e. accidental) warranty i got it for $1999.97 after tax. I told the rep my budget was $2k in the end, and he finally agreed.
Currently, if you configure the system in my sig with 4 GB of RAM (only cause 6 GB was part of the deal, and I couldnt downgrade), the total comes to around $2,100 plus tax which is equal to around $2,300. So I guess percentage wise I probably saved around 13%-15%, which includes 5% from EPP. If you configure wiht 6 GB of RAM which is a $200 dollar upgrade now, then its even more. -
thats sucks,,, seems like the canadian reps are freakin Nazi's compaired to the US reps.... I was thinking of spec'ing out a Alienware 17x. with the same innards as a Asus G73 plus the RGB LED for 1900-2100 TOPS.... i doubt they would do that
-
I may call and try my luck this weekend,,, i will insist, that they must get close to that price,, or they will lose a customer. im sure they have lost alot of customers due to the G73.... the only thing making me want the alienware over the g73, is the sound card,RBGLED and the vents on the bottom (for laptop cooling).. other than that,, that is it....
-
Goodluck!
I talked to one of the reps supervisor and after like an hour and a half of talking back and forth comparing the Alienware and Asus G73 and after pulling out all the facts the most he did was up the EPP discount from 5 to 10% and I had to make the sale within the next 2 hours.
-
well they might or might not the G73 also have the asus reputation tailored to it you know reversed mxm slot scares more people then you could think
-
you could also scare them with the fact that asus has the least amount of RMA's and returns in the buisness... well according to the facts... and they also have FREE 1 year accidental warrenty. that may help... If not alienware are some cheap mofos.
-
I ordered and got roughly a $400 discount plus backpack plus mouse & Next day shippin. Did not accept, I am calling in for some more. Has any Canadian Ordered through a US rep? I always get a call center in India
Canadian discounts are stupid. Basically I only got the tax removed. Garbage! -
well getting the tax removed is still about 13% depending on where u are, so better than nothing...but yes, prices in Canada are generally higher anyways...we just have to deal with it.
-
you could try to contacd TID canada they are dells reseller they have the US prices and a special tax how ever you need a corporate thingy to order through them i think i'll ask my brother tomorrow and post updates
-
My honest opinion... wait it out. Dell offers discounts/sales from time to time, sometimes saving you 100-200$ off the list price for a couple of days. Wait for one of those events... and then haggle them further. They're not too flexibleon the AW itself...but ask for accessories like a free mouse, case/bag wtv...
Also keep in mind, the best time to get a good deal on warrantys is when you're buying the lappy. If they dont budge on the AW then haggle down the price of the warranty. After all, the advanced care warranty is amazing, and if you can get it for cheap, it worth much more than saving a couple of bucks on the system itself.
Hope this helps -
1 thing I dont get is why the reps are so stingy?
I see Americans getting 20 - 25% yet Canadians getting 10-15 AFTER HOURS!
Whats up with that? -
bope...sucks though
-
Lol, yeah its always harder for us Canadians
Just as Jstar said, (I think we both got the same deal) wait for a sale or something. I had an awesome sale back in January, and the system price has never got lower since then (Unless if there is a sale going on..) So I'm pretyt sure I got a good deal, even though I didnt get 20% off the price..
But Oh-well, if I can suggest you something, look in the NBR market place, there are a few M1-something-x going on sale at crazy low prices. -
ya the nbr market prices are damn low i've been thinking for a long time to buy them there and resale them on Ebay LOL

I received a flyer today for a m11x with the following specs:
i7 640um cpu
8gb ram
500 gb hdd
Price is 1499.00 which is about 200.00 off the web price so I called Dell and they said that they don't have it at that price so I scanned the picture in and emailed it to the rep, he said he will call me back. -
Hey everyone!
I got off the phone with an excelent rep. Gave me 600+ off my system, and batter + tactx + bag for $300 Bucks!
Im happy to say the least, 5 hours and over 14 reps later finally got what I wanted -
-
720
6 gig RAM
Ssd
Xf5870
Screen upgrade
3 year premium warranty -
They have $150.00 off the m11x for canadian orders online if you choose the more power one. Specs are:
i7 640um
4gb ram
320gb hdd
$1199.00 which is good for canada -
I tried my luck yesterday and had moderate success.
My experience -
Chose the M17x spec - regular 2749, currently @ $2299; Informed him of my company - surprise, it's on the list. Anyone wanting to order a Dell should always phone (thank you to the forum posts!). Stated I wasn't in a hurry, as I have been out of gaming for years (very true).
So, you get 5% off for my company. Offered 7% off with the two year warranty, and 9% off with the purchase of the three year warranty. Told him would take 12% off, and he went back to his supervisor. Said he couldn't do that, but could do 10%. I then said 10% on the two year warranty, and that's the quote I got (with the upgraded screen and graphics cards). Phoning saved $314 off the discounted price.
I spent way too much on a toy, and my wife won't be happy. Ah well. Only live once.
Soon to be owner of:
m17x - i7 720QM | 1920x1200 RGB | Dual 5870 CF | 1TB HD | 8GB RAM | Blu-Ray Drive -
-
Sorry, 2299 was the base model. Price came out to be 2800 with my config.
-
Phoning makes a huge difference. Anything extra saved from phoning is better than nothing IMO.
-
Has anyone tried ordering from the U.S store? or will it just redirect you to the CAN store once you put in your information. I know if you order from the US store you have to pay a huge TAX fee but right now Alienware US is having an amazing deal ($2199 M17x, Xfire 5870, i5, 1200P, etc..) when i did the same configuration on the Can store it was close to $3000. Even if i pay for the extra cost of shipping plus taxes i still save a lot.
-
Or may be you can ask someone in US to help you buy it? You'd probably have to pay $100 or so in shipping, but cheaper overall.
-
I ordered a refurb from eBay. Seemed like the best way to get USA outlet store pricing.
