Can someone tell me if i need to adjust CCC to something in order to have more enjoyable game play?

My current M17 setup lags so badly that my 3 year old desktop ran games more smoothly.

I am running on default CCC settings.

Maybe someone can make a screenshot of their CCC?

    Thanks in advance.

i havent played on AW notebooks yet, but i play on a really old and crappy desktop and ussualy if you turn ur settings down pretty low it'll run smoother.
all my WoW video settings are set as low as theyll go and it ussualy will run fairly well.

Just make sure you dont disable catalyst ai because that will disable one of your cards. Also make sure all the High performance settings are on. Everything else should just be default.

DHC what is your Desktop? I am guessing a core 2 3.2 desktop? If I was you disable the crossfire. You are working on a game that 4 years old and it dont support crossfire or sli.

Make sure you have Catalyst AI on. If not, it'll only use one of the two cards, if I remember rightly.

Maybe update your video drivers? I'd recommend E-Wrecked's 9.1 drivers (or later ones if you have 64-bit Windows).

Just because the game came out 5 years ago, doesnt mean there are not patches that fix the problems with xfire/sli

Well Look for a fix. I check a few websites and they are all saying disable sli or crossfire. This is comming from both Wow website and tomshardware website.

Beleave me if there was a fix everyone would be useing it and someone would of posted about it already.

What I get from Most website is wow is more a cpu dependent than gpu.

While its true WoW doesn't "utilize" SLI or Xfire, it will still run fine with both cards turned on, you don't have to disable the second card to run it.

As for the CCC settings, mine are the default settings, and in WoW, I set everything to max, and then turned shadows off (which turns it into a custom setting). I use 2x AA 1920 x 1200 resolution (sometimes i pop down to 1x if i'm running a big raid and I start getting fps).

    Hope that helps some.

in ccc are the high performances selected?

I went through installing drivers and everything last night.

I went from ewrecked 9.3-9.1, and the new 9.4, 9.5 drivers. I was trying to figure out why all the sudden I kept getting stuttering.

Well I think I found the problem. With 9.5 I ran 3dmark the first time when the temp of gpus were like 55c and got a score around 9700.

But I noticed a performance increase when the fan was blowing as higher speeds. So I ran it again while the fan was still running and got a score of 14**...

Lol So Im going to install speedfan off of one of my cds when I get back to my room and see if that works.

It still blows my mind that wow has not had a patch for xfire/sli...since it has been out for say 2+ years now.

Your stuttering is not GPU related, we believe it to be related to the Quad Core processors, and/or northbridge. Put your power settings on High Performance to "lessen the pain" of the stuttering, or search this forum for "Project Freeze" for a more invasive potential solution.

Also installing the OCZ .28 Bios seems to be another potential solution (Just make sure you reinstall the Alienware stock bios if you send it in for any repairs).

I use the 9.5 drivers, they seem to work fine for me (not that I had any issues with the AW 8.57 version though)

I really dont think it has to do with the cpu because the first day I got it I ran 3dmark06 and got 14*** with everything stock and it was the first try.

Its not cpu issues, its issue with the fan. I remember reading about if its set to a higher speed, it runs better. And I noticed that it did run better the louder it got.

Before you dismiss my reasoning, I recommend you use the task manager performance monitor running in the background while you get the stutters in WoW and then alt-tab out and look at the cpu charts. You will probably see two processors (out of the four) pretty well maxed out (the other two will be at a nominal 20%ish range) The two maxed out processors will then drop down to 13-20% because you're now out of the game.

I have been struggling with the same issues you describe since I got my machine a few months ago (just look at all the threads i've posted in).

You also have a dual-core, which don't seem to have the issues we're experiencing with the Quad-Cores.
