Is it stuck that way or does it go back down? You can check with task manager if there are any background processes that are chewing up resources.
-
it's stock approximately at 40%, and then its going up and down to 80% - 100% all the time.
i checked the task manager and there is nothing. -
Do you know if the system is doing a windows update? My desktop in my sig would sometimes get owned by automatic windows update until I forcefully disabled it.
If it keeps up you can always do a clean install since it is still brand new. Just back up and reinstall your OS. -
my windows update is set to download but don't install.
i dont know if this helps figuring out whats wrong, but i read on another forum, that if you take out the battery and holds the turn on button for 30 seconds, you could reset the pc. i did that and it worked for some hours and then it went back again. -
So it never goes back down to like 10% or so, always 40% or above right?
Have you tried running a spyware program or anti-virus to see if your system is infected? -

Ok now what programs are you using for CPU readings?

i used the sidebar gadget built in windows 7, and one i downloaded thats called:
all cpu meter.
found on this site: http://addgadget.com/ -
Oh the little gadget meter with the ram usage too right? Yeah I use that too, it's pretty accurate. You know I'm stumped on this one. I think others might have a better idea of what's going on but like I said, it's new so a reinstall wouldn't be such a bad idea.

yeah that one. it's pretty cool.
anyway thanks a lot. i am going to call dell tommorow and ask whats going on. i hope they can help me out.
