or may be I am reading them incorrectly... please have a look at the attached image.

    I am running a T9300 (2.5GHz) and Crucial DDR2 2x2GB 667MHz kit ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148201)

But CPUID shows incorrect information, is it normal or my RAM running downclocked. How can i fix it ?

I am on Vista Ultimate 64bit

speed step downclocks the processor when its not in use. clocks go back when it is in use.

Thats the EIST (SpeedStep) kicking in. (Check the multiplier=8) - Check out RMClock.

The 965 chipset supports RAM frequencies upto 667MHz, so the PC2-6400 has downclocked to PC2-5300.

Dont worry bout it you must have it in stealth mode old boy, it always clocks to exactly that when activated :)

ahh.. I see... yeah I was running in stealth mode so now I fixed my CPU speed. But RAM still shows as PC6400 (400MHz) ?? How to get that fixed?

    Its running correctly.

    333mhz x DDR (dual data rate) = 667mhz

You have the Santa Rosa platform which supports up to 667mhz maximum.

Though your RAM seems to support up to 800mhz

Tis fine dont worry. It WILL downclock as the laptop cant go higher than 667mhz as Andy said. The 333mhz you see is because it is dual channel (333 x2=667) :)

Ach you beat me to it flipfire...

The RAM type is PC6400. The 400MHz is the clock frequency. DDR means that the data moves at twice the clock speed. But it's actually running at 333 = 667MHz because of the chipset.

If you have any worries about performance then run the SiSoftware Sandra memory bandwidth benchmark. I would expect a result of around 4400MB/s.

I thought I know enough about hardware but learning never stops... I am in love with NBR :) Thanks everyone.. a dead pixel and some other weird story made me worry that my RAM is also faulty... huff! what a relax..
