I've ordered a M15x with a 1440x900 display, and I plan on connecting it to an LCD display. Now, if the TV supports 1080i/p, will my M15x output to that resolution?

Definitely, the display resolution only impacts the resolution of your display. *wink wink*

Your GPU will output almost every resolution, including 1080p.

Have you tryed to set the TV as the main "Display"?

Do you extend Desktop on TV or do you see on both displays the same?
    Greetings

In my case the TV went black and than I was toled to chance the way to "double" the signal ...
If I tell you how I solved the problem you would laugh xD
I installed the standert driver and pluged the TV bevor starting in ...
Since that I had no problems ... Movies, Games ... everything was shown on both "Displays" ...

Do you need to see games and videos on both or is TV enough? Than chance TV to main dispaly ...

But the drivers chanced alot since I had my 9800XT ;)
I would try to rightclick on the TV Icon in CCC ...

So ... thats all I know about that issue!
    Hope I can help you
    Greetings
    Julian

Just a random guess use only the YV not the laptop screen. Otherwise those GPUs might not render it.

My plan on is getting a 720p display without using my notebook display. So the TV is the primary, would this cause the black-out on games?

im gonna chip in with my thoughts, i would guess that there is a resolution difference between your laptop display and the tv, so if you have it displayed on both, with the laptop as primary, then the resolution will not be correct for the tv? so therefore, i would try setting it up so it only displays on the tv, and set the resolution correctly for the tv, and this may solve the problem.

i know that when ive hooked my m15x up to my 40"samsung lcd, if i have both displays on, the piture on the tv isnot the correct size as its a different size/resolution to my laptop display.
