    Can I turn RAID1 off on my M17 AlienWear laptop?

    I got a laptop but I got the worng hard drives. i got two 500GB hard drives and with RAID1 one on its 500GB.
    I want to turn it off so i can have a 1TB of space.
    PLEASE HELP ME.

    Hi Nick,

    As far as I am aware, you cannot 'turn' Raid off. You will have to format your computer, as all data is erased when you change Raid.

    On startup it'll say press Ctrl+I to access the configuration. Do so, and you can change the RAID in there from 1 to RAID0.

    After you do this, all data will be erased from the drives, and you'll have to reinstall.

    Also the M17x isn't actually an XPS or Studio XPS computer - you'd do better dropping by the Alienware forums =-)

    You should be able to turn off RAID 1, but not RAID 0. In the worst case run a full backup and then turn off RAID and restore the image to 1 drive.
