Plus tax and shipping I have no idea how much it will come out to if anybody knows around how much it will total out to let me know... Will this desktop be able to run Crysis on full blast? im not asking because i care about the game im probably never going to play it but I just want to know if its good enough ( future proof)

p.s. Does Alienware charge you tax based on where you live or is it Miami tax rate?

Whats full blast?? It will run it on very high at 1920x1080 with around steady 30fps ... but thats far from full blast. Put some AA and anisofiltering and u have to enter triple or quad SLI world ;)

Let's see. Processor is dated (1333MHZ FSB are available). Motherboard is last gen, video card is a beast. Sure, it will run Crysis at full blast, but, that's all relevant to the resolution of the monitor. I mean, if you're talking a 32" LCD at 2560 by whatever, then no, nothing can run that yet. A 1920x1200, maybe, but that is still hard to do with 280's SLI. All depends on the resolution. Just my .02.

Its still a powerful beast but far from being a king of speed. U need to spend at least $10.000 to enjoy Crysis at full details with 60fps. That Desktop is about 3-4 as powerful as your M15x ;)

Yeah, it's still a powerful machine, that will dominate most games today and for a while into the future. As far as the shipping and tax, just configure one, and calculate at the end before "purchasing" it. I think I spend nearly $75 on shipping and $130 on taxes for XPS 720. I can't imagine that unit weighing more.

yes thats similar to my config. from the benchs i have seen on the net. it should run 1900x1200 very high , 2 x 2aa - and always be playable (23fps+) but if you turn off aa entirely you should get much higher.

I don't think anything can handle it on full blast with good FPS yet. Nothing affordable anyway.

Im thinking of keeping the laptop just because of school and it also looks amazing... My question now is does anyone know if Alienware does upgrades if i sent in my m15x for repairs would they be able to upgrade to 2.5ghz or 2.6? Would I see a difference in performance with the 2.5ghz or 2.6ghz or is it extremely minor...

Is a 9 Cell Lithion Ion battery last longer then a smart bay battery? im thinking if i send it in for repairs I can get this extra battery ;) and upgrade the processor... what are your thoughts on th 2.6ghz waste of money?

I recall you asking about a 0.2 ghz difference a while ago, 2.5 is the most cost efficient processor. You will barely notice a 0.2 ghz difference.

Also, I heard putting the 9 Cell on the m15x makes it look kind of awkward. Smart Bay battery is elegant and hot swappable, which is what I would recommend.

But do you think they would do it ? I would like to upgrade to 2.6ghz , I also dont see any smart bay batterys in there website do you know how much they would go for?

Someone told me that the difference between the 2.4ghz i have now and the 2.5 is pretty big because they are completely new chipsets ...your saying i wouldnt notice any difference with a 2,6ghz processor?

Any good advice on how to keep this laptop clean and prevent it from scratching is there anything I can buy to protect it?

2.4GHz to 2.5GHz could actually be worth it. Someone else could probably fill us in on the details. I don't think the 2.6GHz is worth it, though.

I think if you call them up and purchase it after receiving the laptop it's less, around $90 or something?

I've got zero scratches on mine after 2 months. When I go out, I slip on the laptop sleeve and pack it into my backpack, which is a G-Pak from the Mobile Edge. Admittedly, it's a tight fit as the m15x has more junk in the trunk but I've maintained my m15x pretty well up to this point. Also, if you don't have one already, get some kind of microfiber cloth to clean the display and what not.

And yeah, as a college student, laptop is the way to go. I mean all of us could purchase a better desktop, performance-wise, but laptops are designed for mobility and that's what we put most of our cash toward as laptop users.
