    Can you buy ATL mobility cards from a retailler?

    I tried to search for these cards on google and it seems like you cant buy these cards outside of a system like ati does not sell them individually to people only to retaillers or something. is that true? Just wondering cause if so thats kind of messed up.

    These cards are specific to the laptop (mostly).

    Therefore, you'll have to deal with Dell (M17x) or AW (m15x, m17, etc) unless you get them off of ebay or rjtech, etc.

    nah i dont want one im getitn a m17x, i just find it strange that there are no retaillers that sell this card like ati only givem em to comp manufacturers. that is shady if u ask me. screw ati

    ATI doesn't manufacture the cards for the laptop OEM's, so it is not really their fault (ATI just supplies the chips).

    Yep, that's why I was wondering. I have a spare T7600 CPU I could upgrade mine with. If I could get the 4850s, I'd replace the CPU and GPUs in my laptop then sell it. It'd be a nice powerhouse again.

    They could well be too hot for the M9750's Cooling System however ;)

    With Dell in charge, the 4850 will end up in the replacement parts pages eventually, available to everyone. The draconian age of Alienware's GPU hording is over.
