I know everyone hates the "what would you buy" posts but here is my dilemna. I have 1500 from either alienware titanium or dell prefered. My main focus is gaming and no I dont want to buy a desktop. I am considering
m17 with 3870xfire or the xps 1640 with hd4670. Somewhere I am also thinking m15x since it is also so cheap.

I know the xps is having issues overheating due to a skinny case. What are you guys thoughts between the three... I am thinking of three main issues...

    1. Dependability
    2. Performance
    3. Price

I really appreciate the feedback. Wish I could affort the m17x but I just can't. Also does anyone know if new models are coming out soon?

    Thanks!

Get the M17 with xfire. Still alot of life left in the machine . Im blown away by how well it runs all the games i have and you can always put in a new CPU and possible GPUs down the road(4850) if you have some cash to spare later.

Also.. If i dont get a recovery disk do they at least include the vista 64 disk or something like that? It is somewhat confusing trying to figure out what is included and not (software wise...) Thanks!

Yeah the OS disk is included and drivers DVD . Also there is a recovery partition on the drive itself so you can just hit F10 upon booting and restore right back to factory if you feel the need .

Also, what do you guys think about xfire vs single 3870. Yes I have seen the benchmarks from the 15x but when you have a p8400 processor does it really make a difference on the base model? I am not worried about 3dmark and vantage and all that. I am talking about real game performance such as cyrsis, neverwinter and newer games.... Again I appreciate it...

Ok.. one last question and I think I will call it a day... Again first and foremost thanks for taking the time to read and answer...

On the ordering form it gives an option for illuminated keyboards. So does this mean the default keyboard is not lighted at all or just a default blue lighting... Personally I dont care about changing colors. I do wanted illuminated though. Thanks!

Nope one has lights and the other does not at all. Its not the brightest lit keyboard out there but it does the job decently and green being the best and brightest of the bunch between the 3 choices they give you . Red Green Blue. When you get the machine just hit FN+F10 and it will cycle the colors.

I wish I could afford the 4850s... It would be nice if they would offer it solo for a few extra bills.

GL getting your M17, definitely a good choice IMO after owning both the m15x and m17. :)
