    Can you overclock M17x core i7 720qm

    So is there a way to over clock this cpu in M17x?? i understand that bios oc is only available for the 920xm.... does the eleet software work with this cpu??

    has anyone tried this before???

    o ok.. does annyone know what is the max ghz you can achieve with 920xm?? when all 4 cores are running

    4 cores @ 2.0ghz,

    1 core @ 3.2ghz

    I have a QS, and sometimes HWiNFO32 shows that

    all 4 cores are running at 3.2ghz... :D Great if it is true, given that temps are low, if not, still yea they run at 3.2ghz max 1core.

    well my question wasnt so related with the turbo boost. have you tried like ocing while disabling turbo? i was wondering what the max clock would be while runnin like prime 95 (so all cores running)

    so the bios wont let you change the FSB?

    we were hoping the datasheet might beable to let us change the fsb like it can in the ASUS but sadly no it wont.

    Correct, it's the cpu freq bus and setfsb can still access it just not in the M17x. To be honest it does VERY little without controlling your turbo boost multipliers and that will only work with the 920.

    Setfsb is just a tool to program the PLL.

    Your notebook still uses a PLL to generate the clock.
    Problem is that these new PLLs don't have datasheets available on the net yet.

    If you can find the PLL and email the company who makes the PLL for the datasheet, then you would proabably be able to do this:
