Even if it gets hot, relative to your question "Can you use the m15x on the lap?", you CAN use it on the lap. You can also probably not prevent the automatic birth control.

Would it provide good air flow though? Is it a hard surface on top, or a soft one the base of the m15x is going to sink into?

also running on integrated its safe to use on your lap right?... as the T9300 is not going to make it way 2 hot?

I recommend getting a flat surface like a Targus Chillmat if you want to use the machine on your lap. Both of the fans are located in the corners of the machine so it is difficult not to block them using it on your lap.

In Stealth Mode with integrated graphics you should be OK though. The laptop doesn't produce much heat that way.

My computer says "only use on a hard, flat surface", and since the m15x gets hotter, this would be the case too. I would definetly get something like chaz suggested.

Yea the Targus Chillmat is a good to purchase if you are going to be using it on your lap a lot. If you just use it on your lap occasionally, then you can go without a chillmat. I have used my M9750 on my lap on some occasions.

I would find it hard to use on my lap, because I always use an external mouse.

Hey Heathkidd, sorry took so long to reply, been working hard... They quoted me a delivery date of March 17th, and i got it on the 18th. I took it with an 8700 GPU instead of the 8800GTX while they sorted out the problems. I got a phone call last friday, and they said that this week they will start sending out the m15x with the 8800GTX's with the new BIOS. So i am going to send mine back in and get the GPU changed out as i originally apid for the 8800GTX's. They have been pretty good down here, Joesph was a bit slow getting back to emails after the money had come through, but they have answered all my questions so far. They said it would be picked up on the monday night (i was speaking to them about 10am our time, so 11:30 in Adelaide), and it was at my doorstep tuesday morning 9am.

Once you make your order and are ready to submit it, it gives you an estimated date.. pretty close to when it does arrive. Obviously with the BIOS update, they shouldnt have anymore problems.

Oh, and make sure you tell them to write on your nameplate... mine came blank! Hmmm... eBay...
