Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
No advice at all? could it be possible that my vid card is bad? No one at all has had this problem?
I have tried uninstalling using driver sweeper and reinstalling and nothing still. -
I've had this problem. I don't know how to fix it. The best thing is install CCC via Dells Drivers just CCC and install the rest.

What driver is being used right now? Is CCC (any version) installed? If not, what happened to it?

Do you now have a directory or folder c:\ATI Technologies\Support\10-3_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc and within that folder the expanded files and folders from the 10-3 Mobility download?

Go to and open that folder. Double click on Setup.exe. That should launch the Install Manager again. But this time select Uninstall. Then uninstall everything you can. Ordinarily his works fine to clear out everything, but not sure if the Dell branded driver package might cause some hiccup. Report your progress. If all goes well, you should have a clean slate to work with. If not, we'll go to Device Mgr.

Ok I did what you said and even took it a couple steps further went ahead and deleted the dell drivers folder at C:/dell/drivers/R21508 and cleaned the registry and ran driver sweeper, restarted and still not working and I also tried with 10.4 official from the AMD site and 10.3 from there as well both did the same thing as that post above with the pic....

The Revelator Notebook Prophet

the windows 7 drivers
-
The Revelator Notebook Prophet
Slow down a little. Then let's go to Device Mgr (Control Panel>Hardware, etc>Device Manager. Select Display Adapter, select 4870, right click, then Properties, select Driver tab, Uninstall, in the popup window check Delete software, etc. It should remove the driver, reboot and hopefully you come back up with a VGA driver. Report on progress. Please don't do anything else yet.

Ok finished that havent tried reinstalling anything yet everything is big
-
The Revelator Notebook Prophet
Now, 2 methods. The best is to go back to the ATI etc folder to the 10-3 Mobility folder and run setup again, and select Express Install. If that works, great. If not, we'll do it the old fashioned way.

Looks to be the old fashioned way

The Revelator Notebook Prophet
Bummer. Then let's go back to Device Mgr (Control Panel>Hardware, etc>Device Manager. Select Display Adapter, select 4870, right click, then Properties, select Driver tab, then Update driver. Select "Browse my Computer . . " and browse to that same ATI, etc. folder. Select or highlight the 10-3 Mobility folder. Let it find and install the drivers. When it reboots, you should have the 10.3 drivers.

Congratulations !! Glad to help.

im in the same boat except i have tried all these options and its still reverting back to the win7 driver
think i might delete it out of the system folder and clean it out completely -
have you the a05 bios ? if yes install the a02 bios and it will be good.
-
tried that and still cant update , i have tried all method of manual instal and pointing windows to the inf file etc but it just wont cooperate , never had hassle like this to install a driver
-
did you dl the mobility driver ?
-
Ive also tried all the above (all self and all manual ways), heck i even went as far as doing a clean WIN7 install... nothing and i mean NOTHING seems to work.. the 10.4 just wont install and thats final. I think i will just have to stick to the dell drivers that are on my dell m17x driver disc? ....
-
same here it just doesnt seem to want to update , quite a pain in the !
Can't Update my Vid Drivers
