Canadian reps are far stingier than the american ones. The best Canadian discounts I've seen were only 10-12%. They will yell and lie at you ($100 off is all I can give!). Just be direct and calm, and don't be afraid to hang up and try again. Don't believe them when they say they have your number on file and if you call again you'll get them again.

Also, the EPP discount for Canadian AW systems is only 5%, whereas the U.S has a different EPP system and different reps, which is why you see guys getting 20% or more. I got a little over 10% off and spent hours doing it.

Oh, and also double and triple check your order, they may downgrade your components without telling you to make it look like you're getting a discount.

My first order was shipped from USA to Toronto via Purolator. It is much cheaper to ship domestically within the USA as it is to ship to Canada and that is one reason why they don't give Canadians a better discount. Dell is also the only game in town and they know it.

Compare the pricing on the USA site and point out any discrepancy to your rep. Sometimes have seen hardware upgrade discounts that are not available in Canada. I think you have more bargaining power in a chat than you do on the phone. You can cue faster online and compare more quotes than you can by phone. Also by chat you establish email contact which is important if you require any modifications to your order.

You will always get better discount on say a Precision as their prices for similar configurations are much higher than Alienware. I was offered 10% off Alienware or 20% of a similiar Precision.

The more you order the bigger discount they are willing to give. If you want any extended warranties than that is also a bargaining chip.

I had a hard time getting a discount from my rep. he would only give me my EPP discount 5% and 7% if you upgrade the warranty. Even when I pointed to him about when our Cdn currency was on par with the US currency and the price difference between the 2 sites and same spec.

Best bet is to keep an eye out for a DELL discount on redflagsdeal.com
that's where i got my deal. $999 cdn M11x for 320GB, and Su7300 proc and 4GB RAM (before my EPP discount.) Dell ususally post deals every 3-4 days. Just the day before i found the deal on redflag, my rep was saying the best deal he can give me was close $1175 for the same spec (he knocked $50 off the 1225 or something like that and told me that was the best he can do.)

Also I would check deal of the week under performance laptop deals.. it usually have an alienware.

Also this week, Dell is having a signature week, there are each of the alienware model on sale.

I am not sure, but for us Canadians, we are probably getting sales rep from India (sales rep have 7 digit entension and I have talked to 4 different sales rep and they all have Indian name even their supervisor ) so I doubt you will be able to get good discount from them. I believe our US counter part are getting local US sales rep which tends to give them a better disoucnt.

Well you can get 350$ here from The Signature Event, if you scroll down to the bottom you will see you can get an M17x with a 720QM or 620M, 6GB's of ram, and a 500GB hard drive, configuration for 350$ less than it would normally cost, but unfortunately tonight is the last night for it. You can also get 5%-7% off on top of that with an EPP code.

Hi, I'm new to this forum so sorry if I posted into the wrong section.

I was just wondering if anybody has some good extensions(sales associates) from Canada? So far I've only got discounts for only $200 for the M17x from $1899.99 to $1699.99 but it's still over my budget. I've noticed US has some pretty nice associates that are willing to discount up to 30% or possibly more. But so for I've been only offered 2%, $75 and $125 (each different associates) and aren't willing to go anymore higher. I'm still a student so I'm still in a tight budget.

    In advance, thank you.
