The key is to be very persistent in calling reps and asking for discounts. I couldn't and ended up being robbed by a rep, lol.

decide if you want the m11x, m15x or m17x. Set a certain budget and what components you want to go into your system.

try talking to diff sales rep, and get the feel of how they deal with customers, short list those sales reps and get back to the ones you find most comfortable talking with. some sales rep can give more discounts than others. just don't be in a rush.

    Be patient. Again, be patient.

    Order over the phone.

For warranties, I would recommend getting the warranty when you purchase the laptop, because it may be cheaper than if you were to buy it separately down the road. And you'll most likely get a good deal this way, the time of purchase is when they are most willing to give deals. I would go for the longest you can afford at time of purchase

also check out dell epp discounts.(employee purchase program)

and ... dont be shy to Haggle :D

I work for a big Canadian company and when I told the rep what company I worked for they offered me that company discount. Not sure if it was a ploy, but saved me some coin :).
