I will follow along with others here,
I will cancel my order with Alienware Monday morning.
To many issues with customer service, and product quality, or lack there of.
I am only on phase 1 for a few days, I was thinking Dell but since they are part of Alienware I will go with another company.
-
Their sales dept. is actually open on Sundays, from 9am-9pm EST.

Is the M15x really that bad you guys are scaring me :*(
-
I just feel something should be done about the lack of caring at Alienware and the only way it will get done is if people refuse to buy from either company because of the service of the other.
That will make them either FIX the lack of caring or cause them to sell one company off and get rid of the wart on their face. -
(no offenses)
I got mine with some faulty but i decide to fix it on my own since mostly it was some software problem and when i purchase mine, it have malfunction HDbut i didnt care much since i am gonna upgrade it to 200GB (but until i notice the thread about the creaking and cracking, then i notice my m15x have a bit of creaking sound)
But hey, im happy with my notebook due to the many type of games it can be played with HIGH SETTING and it looks really cool. Though my 1st AW notebook is a bit disappointments but you learn from mistake and take in the bad experience turn it around and make it into a beautiful memory... and i just gotta stress this out, the smartbay is SOOOOOO coool and also the keyboard lighting, Thanks AW!!!

When I cancel my order, I will tell Alienware to come to this forum and they can read the horror stories and see why I am canceling my order
-
Thing is though we are now only a month or so away from the first serious competiton to the m15x being released, so I think anybody still not totally sure should wait just that little bit longer to see a) whether the competion lowers the price of the m15x and/or b) whether the competition might actually be a better option.
At the end of the day any person now looking at getting a new high spec laptop needs to remind themsleves of their reasons for wanting/needing one. The m15x may look amazing, but that should be a only bonus to buying it. First and foremost it has to work as advertised and be able to perfrom all the tasks it owner bought it for without them having to call support or send it back for repair within the first 6 months. -
Jeep... They have I dont know how many reps in this forum. Do they care about problems? Not really... They care more about image, that's the number one reason for AW to have the reps in the forum.
-
Jeep - Dell actually has really good customer service and quality control. For example, if you do not like your notebook FOR ANY REASON you can send it back within 30 days for FREE. No restocking fee.
-
guys, this is a tech support forum. Most people that dont have problems will never come to these forums. The majority of M15x's do work. What you read here are the horror stories that in comparison to the huge number of computers that alienware ships, are actually few and far between. Every company and every computer has its problems. At the beginning the m15x did have some serious problems but by now most of the cracking, over heating and downclocking issues have been solved. Dont be totally scared by what you see here. Sure there is always a chance that you will have a problem, but more likely you will have a perfectly working system. There are many people that have AW laptops and have never had a problem.
-
Line, I'm not sure whether you have an M15x... I do.
I was here before I bought it and I'm here after I received it (and sent it back for repairs just 3 weeks after receiving it). I've been around since January-February studying the M15x. This has nothing to do with sporadic horror stories or OCD costumers. This has to do with a generalized case of very poor design and construction. Nothing has been made to fix any cracking or poor construction of the M15x appart from the release of new Bios versions. As anyone inteligent, we can see that just by putting a new bios out you won't correct cracking, wobbling, cases cracking, lack of appropriate cooling system, keyboard flexes, light leaking through very poor plastic, etc...
It's good to have opinions... but it's also good to know what we are talking about.
Cheers,
M. -
After sending 4 friends to this forum, they decided to stay away from AW.
I have nothing personal against it, but their way of making this laptop and mocking people's hard work and money has turned me into a an anti-AW fanboy.
I cannot believe there is nobody doing anything about it legally... -
I'm against any fanboy. Be it Mac, AW, Clevo, Dell, whatever... Fan boys are just extremists that do not use their inteligence to make decisions, but rather they make decisions based on their personal passions.
Even if I own an M15x, at the moment I'm completely infuriated with AW's policies and lack of respect for their costumers and I hope they are legally charged for their "criminal" acts. -
@Line - I would throw up my argument again but really I don't feel like typing it to you, if I can find one of the many times I've had to respond to this subject I will post it.
Bottom line: This is not an isolated issue, if it is happening the same exact way to multiple people than it is more than an isolated error. -
I can only speak from personal experience and so far from the 2 m15x's that i have used (not just for an hour or so but for a day or two), there were no issues. Two of my friends bought m15x's back in mid-march ish and have not had any problems with them at all. One was with the X9000 and the other with the T9300. Granted i did not stress their laptops (they did that themselves and found no issues) i just gamed on them for a long while (8hrs+, playing WoW (BT/Hyjall - X9000 raids and AoC - T9300 ) and like i said no issues.
My m15x comes in tomorrow at approx noon (depending on how accurate that fedex tracker is) and when it comes it i will thoroughly test it to make sure everything is running fine. Hopefully everything will beBut as for now my experiences with the m15x have been very positive.
PS. I hope this makes some sort of sense just got home from work and am really tired -
I agree with Line in that there are plenty of people with happy systems. It seems like every new negative comment I read on this board ever day comes from the same handful of people that are disgruntled with AW and have a personal vendetta. It's almost feels like a religious fervor in the way some of you whip up the condemnation and pass out pitchforks. Look, everyone is entitled to their opinion and I do realize that the m15x did NOT have as smooth a launch as previous systems. That being said, the major issues have been addressed and workarounds have been found for those that still exist. Workarounds are pretty common for most systems and I've had little issues here and there with practically every laptop I've owned. Hopefully, there will be even more updates in the future from AW to resolve any remaining problems.
The problem is that some of you that had bad experiences with AW are on a mission to turn as many people away from them as possible as a means of exacting your revenge. This is why we see the same handful of people stirring things up on here every day. I have nothing personal against any of you but it's getting really old. The people with positive stories (plenty of them on here) post once or twice and then leave while the disgruntled rest of you post multiple times daily. So you had a bad experience with AW and with the m15x. We get it already. Let it go and move on to another manufacturer and/or forum. -
i think aswell that there are many happy people out there with the m15x, but i also think that they are not as critical as we are, as they should be. we are picky, but we pay THOUSANDS on a laptop. if you want stupid little quirks like creaky/wobbly systems, go buy a cheap acer.
many personel dont even know how to tell if thier laptops are underclocking on these forums. i bet there are many m15x users out there that are unaware that their systems are not runing at full potential. -

@Jeep - Here are a few recommendations.
1. That screen resolution may be a little small.
2. Install the 4Gb yourself or you are just wasting money.
3. Go with a larger slower spinning hard drive (5400RPM). It will be just as fast because of platter density and will give you better battery life.
4. Don't get Lightscribe technology unless your are actually going to buy special DVD's for it. Kind of pointless in my opinion.
5. Get a 3 yr Aliencare warranty especially because the M15x seems to be vulnerable to breaking. I don't want to see your here in over a year complaining because AW won't service your computer because you don't have a warranty -
@ Jeep:
With Stone's recommendations, you're going to have a very sweet laptop for what you want to use it for, and the specs will stand up for a number of years. With the 8700 and the non-xtreme CPU, you shouldn't have any heat issues, and that thing should last you. -
Yea in addition, shaving off the 4Gb and lightscribe will probably net you enough money for the 3yr anyways. If you "play rough" with your laptop you may want to look at a Dell M1530 because they have the accidental damage warranty and you can get one for much cheaper.

One thing I notice. I am seeing people come here who are happy with there systems and they are running 100%. Most of them are people who had issues with Older systems. A few are people who come here to say great system and then they leave. Or they are have to much fun to bother comming here.
Then there the people that have major problems. Do problem solving and they come here to find answers. Then get mad due to fact Alienware Tech support are not up to standard. I was like many who had major problems on my system. They never solve the issue to the Area 51 5550 with Wlan card not reconnecting or overheating. -
I also think there are people who stay here to help people
-
i just didnt like the fact that so many people had to send in the system up to 3 times for repair and never getting it right.
-
a very sad moment indeed
