    Hi all,

Sorry if this has been done before, I did have a look for past threads but couldnt find any.

My m15x hinges have competely disintergrated now, and my laptop if basically falling apart. I have been nothing but gentle with it, but have read that it is a design and manufacturing flaw in the m15x.

Ive tried to ring them to see about getting it fixed, but keep getting an answering service, and the promise to get a call back. Still nothing, and ive tried heaps of times by leaving my number. Any suggestions?

    Kris

I'm not sure on this, but you can try giving Dell Support in Australia a ring... At the very least they should be able to put you in touch with the right support people. Tell them you are leaving messages but are not receiving a return call.

It may not have the dignity your system should have but I'd recommend using some good strong tape in the meanwhile to stop the screen coming off.

Ok, managed to get ahold of Alienware Australia through their messaging service - i guess telling them it was urgent and was my 4th time calling made them take notice a wee bit.

I sent my laptop off the day after they phoned me, they arranged the pick up through courier, and because my system was out of warranty, they agreed to replace the lid/repair the damage for free; all i had to do was pick up the P&P - which was AU$200 for overnight delivery.

I got the call from them this morning saying the system was repaired, and that they had replaced the Ripley design with the skullcap one for no cost, as that design was a bit more structurally sound... Also, they put in some more screws in the bottom panel that had fallen out.

I will be receiving my m15x tomorrow from the courier, so will post on how the repairs went from AW Australia. From what ive experienced so far, they were really helpful once I had gotten through to them... that was the only hard thing so far. In total, I sent the laptop off tuesday afternoon and expect it back on Firday afternoon... a total of 3 days turnaround. Not bad if you ask me.

If anyone is interested here are some pics of the damage to the hinges. This appeared as a little crack at the start, and then when i opened it it literally exploded into this.
