    Hey everyone :)

Im driving myself insane here I cant decide between the m17x and the m15x.

Im not really to concerned for the sli as it really puts my budget up with sli. Plus I have really nice gaming rig at home for all the high end games aka Crysis

I would be open to other suggestions :) im hoping to order in the next week or so.

The two configs that im looking at would be.

    M15x
    Intel i7 720
    4gig ram 1333mhz
    Nvidia gtx 260m
    9 cell battery
    3 years warranty

    Or

    M17x
    Intel p8700 or t9600
    4gig ram 1333mhz
    Nvida gtx 260m Single
    3 years warranty

I no that the m17x has the little bit better keyboard aswell as casing
but the m15x has the lil bit better screen and newer processor.

The main use is for is for some games, slr photo editing and processing

    Any feedback much appreciated :)

If you're only getting a single graphics card then the M15x is the way to go in my opinion.

If you go M17x, save yourself a few bucks and just get the 1066MHz ram. The 1333MHz ram doesn't really buy you anything unless you plan on benchmarking it to the max.

yeah, I agree with EvilCorsair....if you aren't worried about SLI, the M15x is the better choice. Your proc choice is a solid one too.

i7 and LED Screen would fully justify M15X in this case ! Definitely M15X !

Thanks for all your replies :)

I think the m15x is the better option, but just wanted to make sure it was.

    Cheers

Exactly, which is why I said "I think" This person might very well be different. Can always turn off the lights too.

One other pro for the M17x over the M15x is the dual hard drive bays . . . you can do a lot of things with two drives bays:
    -RAID (0 or 1)
    -Lots of storage
-SSD for main drive + hard drive for storage

Though I agree, if you are only going with a single GPU, the M15x is a better choice. Make sure you get the 1080p screen.

Err, maybe not, higher rez = lower gaming performance. For me, a higher screen resolution isn't that important, seeing as I've lived with 800*600 and 1024*768 all my life...

Only if the computer can't handle it.
Sounds like what you need is a netbook, not an Alienware.

I'd go m15x in fact I really want to...I want to sell my current m15x to fund a new one but can't justify the new 1500 dollar debt I'd incur...and the fact I've only had this one a year or so...

Have to agree with Kryptonian....Sagers are powerful, but style is as important to me as performance. I just like machines that work well as well as look awesome.

But, not everyone feels the same and thats cool....

To me, the higher the resolution the better. And with the right GPU, games can not only handle the resultion, they looked hella better than at 800x600 or 1024x768.

I've spent years at those resolutions - and even longer at lower res, but I can never go back.

Ha, it so happens I'm getting a netbook to go along with my AW. People I talk to say they are much better for those long flights than a desktop-class notebook.
