I have read similar posts, but in my particular case, when I go to ATIs website, download the 10.4 Mobility Installer and run it... The only options I get to install are "Install Manager" and "MS Visual C++"... Nothing else, no drivers or anything. I am on a fresh install of W7 and didn't use the Dell/AW video driver. Do I need to install the Dell one first then the 10.4 over it? When I tried to do that before, I got the same result and no new drivers were installed and CCC wasn't updated. Am I doing something wrong or missing a step? My first system with ATI anything and their drivers are lame! nVidia at least seem to work from the get go.

have you removed the previous drivers before attempting to install the 10.4?

Read through the thread... It doesn't address the Catalyst Control Center also not installing. Any ideas there? If the drivers install and I run it again, do you think CCC will decide to install since the installer sees that there are now drivers?
-
Manually installed drivers (have disk method), still cannot get CCC to install.
-
for ccc, do the following:
go to your folder where the drivers were extracted. and to the apps/ccc folder. E.g.
C:\ATI\Support\10-4_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc\Packages\Apps\CCC
try installing every component manually (go into every folder and run the msi file inside). See if that helps -
Will give it a shot in the morning, well, later morning.

I had the same problem. I could install 10.3 and 10.4 with the A02 bios but could not with the A05 bios. What I did was a clean installation/since I don't have the stock SSD and made a bootable cd of the A02 bios from this link: http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...e-threads/455535-m17x-r-2-drivers-thread.html. After I installed the 10.4 than flash with A05 that I downloaded from the dell site. Fans are louder over all with the A05 bios, but I find that when playing the fans aren't as loud as with the A02 bios. A05 still doesn't solve the weird once out of the blue inability to wake up from sleep thing.

OK, got it to work with BIOS A05 installed. Hope this is helpful for others. I had to use the Dell ATI Driver install package to get everything to install. To update to the 10.4 driver package for the GPU, I had to do the "have disk" method and manually install the drivers. Also, to get it to work properly, I had to install the GPU drivers first, then do the CCC/HDMI etc (with the GPU drivers unchecked in the install package). If I did it the other way around, my scores were very low, to the point I wasn't even sure that the second GPU was even being used even though CF was shown as enabled.
Thanks for the help everyone! -
