And just like clockwork, the new catalyst is out, doesnt seem to have anything special apart from bug fixes though.

Rest of the bug fixes can be found here.

These work fine on an M17, mobility modded, they further improve several games and engines even though its not mentioned in the notes as well :)

You dont need to mob mod these drivers as you can download the official 9.9 mobility drivers right from ATI now . I put the link to them in the thread that NYCZlegacy made about 4850 drivers.

If you choose Windows 7 then "mobility Radeon" then "mobility Radeon HD 3000 series" you can use that driver on Vista and it doesnt need modding.
I think this is what Quadzilla is referring to.
I have been doing this for months and have never needed to mod anything.

Although I have just started using the modded drivers in the last few weeks.

You dont have to mod anymore with these Windows 7 drivers and they have been available since early 2009.

Yea same here the last few months but theres always a chance to use 1680x1050 or lower for whatever reasons, compatibility issues etc. So i just want to make sure that if i need it its going to be there. Its not hard to tweak the .inf just want to make sure if i need to tweak the inf before installing or not :p

An easy way to check it out is by changing the resolution of the desktop (which takes like 5 secs :p) and check for black "bars" around the screen. Although i think it moves your icocs so its better to be done by someone that doesnt have a tidy layout desktop or has a few icons :p

Some of the widescreen resolutions stretch IE 1280x720 while others like 1920x1080 give black bars top and bottom. 4x3 resolutions produce black bars on the sides. 800x600 gave black bars on the side but seem to still be upscaled some what since it took up a good portion of the screen and more then 800x600 should. Hope that answers your questions.

Yeap, it does, thanks :) Its basically the same "issue" with the mobility modder drivers (damn those LCD's!) but its quite easy to fix at least.

They'll go 9.10. ATI tend to use a (Year).(Month) notation system, only deviance I remember is the one time they released an extra set in a year, so had .13 :)

yeah some of these minor bug fixes can make a world of difference in certain buggy games. my benchmarks have increased a fraction as well.
Any improvement is welcome no matter how small.

Windows 7 drivers dont really work in my case, no display driver installation just CCC and 2-3 more features, but not the actual driver. Any ideas ? :(

Quad are you doing a proper uninstall of the old drivers or just installing them over them ? If thats the case whats your 3d driver version ?

Same here... I uninstalled all ATI drivers/CCC/etc, then ran Driver Sweeper, then ran the installer for the Win 7 9.9's (I have Vista)... it didn't give me the option to install any drivers! now?

When i had tried them under Vista yes i did an over install so that may be the issue . Its not something i would regularly do even though its perfectly fine . I had just tested it to see if the machine detected the cards more then anything since i spend all my time in Win7 .

If you didnt uninstall the old drivers you are probably using the new version of CCC etc but the old 3d driver since you cant install the newer one.

Check in CCC and see if the 3d driver version is 8.14.10.0697 when you got time.

That would mean before the end of 2010 they will have to change again to v11, which beats the point of trying to have year/month as their driver version :p

Simple. Download the 9.9 drivers for desktop for your OS, v64 by your sig. Run the setup file but cancel once you reach the simple or custom install screen, this will extract the drivers, usually in C:\ATI.
Download mobility modder 1.2.1.0 or newer, and install. Deactivate UAC and restart.
Run mobility modder, and sellect the extracted driver foldee ie C:\ATI\9.9WHQL
This tends to take about 30 seconds.

Go to the driver folder and choose custom install. If the procedure has worked you should see device driver among the listings, choose all the parts you want and continue. During install it may ask permission to install an unverified driver or similar, say yes.

    Job done!

Phew! Typed that all with a PS3 pad! Haha.

    Hey guys!

I finally decided to update my drivers. Was running on E-Wreck's modded 9.1 or 9.3, don't even remember anymore.

So I got the 9.9. installed without a trouble and mobmodded them.
Question: How to get rid of the black bars around screen when playing a game for example in 1680x1050 resolution?
I have most of the resolutions unlocked, just don't like the fullscreen feature not working properly.
