I was just wondering a few questions about Certified Refurbished laptops, for one can I use discounts like the dell 8% NUS card discount on them and also is there someone I can speak to negotiate price or is that only on the new alienwares, also are certified refurbs generally in good shape etc?

There is a 800 # at the top of the screen to speak to sales, The discount they will know also there is a place on the check out page for discounts you just apply it and if it is no good it tells you.

You could try calling up Dell as stated above.

Certified refurbished should be fine. You'll get the bad apple once in awhile that slips through. If you are really picky about quality, try looking for previously ordered new. Those are new, just "redistricted" or were overstock and wound up at Outlet.

Scratch and Dent is a whole other story. I've seen pristine units with a scratch or two, and I have also seen keyboards bent up, palmrests not flush, missing screws, bezels broken, it is hit or miss with those but Outlet has a pretty good return policy.

I previously owned a M15x and that was a certified refurb. It was in great shape and was like new. The only complaint I have, which is a very minor one, is that it didn't come with a generic nameplate. It came with a random one that had someones name on it. Bt like I said it's only a very minor thing. I was so happy with the condition of the refurb I just recently ordered a M18x from the outlet. Can't beat the prices :D

I bought a certified refurbished laptop last year from dell, the CD drive ended up going out in 1 month, and there were overheating problems. I do not recommend buying any refurbished products.

They did fix it however, but it was a pain to deal with.

I bought a scratch and dent M15x, all the scratches are pretty minor and not noticeable unless you really hunt for them.

I've owned/resold probably 10+ refurbished computer. The only 1 I had real problems with was my Dell Latitude E6410, which I promptly returned to Dell with no hassles whatsoever. I had an RMA done in 2 minutes, an email with the shipping label in 1 hour, and Dell credited back my PayPal in 1 hour after shipping. Tell me that isn't good customer service.

+1 when in doubt, contact sales and ask your question. They can help you answer it much faster than we can (in regards to purchasing). ;)
