I know this is going to sound stupid, but can someone tell me how to charge this laptop?

Because either I'm doing something incorrectly or I will have to call tech support to diagnose my laptop..again.

I ran the battery down to about 10%, so i decided to plug it in to charge it. When it's on I notice that when I highlight the battery in the system tray it will say (plugged in, not charging).
My first question is, is there a way to get it to charge when plugged in? Should it always be charging when plugged in?

When the laptops off I plug in the AC adapter, and today i left it off for 3 hours, plugged in, with the laptop off. To turn it on with the battery only to have it say 8% left.

Is it a problem with the laptop, or am I just not attempting to charge it correctly?

Thanks for the quick response but after I posted I forgot to mention that the alien heads were no longer morphing when they were charging. Only green (the color I had it set to when it's plugged in).
But before I saw your post I decided to just take the battery out, then put it back in. Now the alienhead IS moprhing through various colors and the battery icon now says it is charging.

I wonder if just taking the battery out then putting it back in has fixed it.

Fn+f2 I believe is the key combo to get the battery options.

That seemed to let me pinpoint what went wrong. There's three options witht that button. They seem to be battery disabled, battery enabled with what looks like a full battery, and battery enabled with what looks like low battery. It seems to only charge when I have it battery enabled with the full battery on screen display.

I believe this is normal and I just had it set the wrong setting.

    User error, like always =P

    Thanks for the help guys.

It will shorten your battery life. However I prefer to leave mine in all the time.

Think of your battery as a UPS, if the power cuts out you don't turn off and lose any work you are doing.
When the battery dies just buy a replacement.

Also a big point with this system is that the front rubber feet are on the battery, if you remove it it won't sit on the desk very well.

Ha! I wish I had an adapter that power my system even w/o charging the battery! It sucks having my "All Powerful" being all powerless....
