    $3.93 USD shipped from HK.
    Performance: Unknown yet.
    Setup: 1 minute
Quality: Unknown yet, but seems sturdy enough if you are not trying to smash the half balls.
Pros: Cheap, include 2 extra slideproof feet.
Cons: The half balls are not slide proof. Maybe I stick those 2 extra slideproof feet to the balls instead of the laptop.

just so i've got this right. those are, basically, two small plastic half-spheres which elevate the back of your laptop off the surface, this increasing airflow underneath.

now, is there any sort of logical explanation as to why you spent money on this, seeing how it could just as quickly be accomplished by any number of household objects (erasers, for starters)? just asking...

I used to use deck of cards (with the box), and some kind of eraser for this purpose, but it's not stable if you use that on bed or chair.

These balls stick to the laptop, and can be removed from the laptop by pulling them out, and then put the balls together to store in my bag.

Yes, you can probably get 2 same height erasers and stick those pads between the erasers and laptop for same effect. But how many presentable erasers can you buy at $4 with the pads and 2 slide proof feet? And that people don't think you are weird to put erasers under your new alienware.

It was only $3-- I think that's not something to have much concern over. Besides, I think having those half-spheres under the laptop looks a little more natural than having erasers under it or any other household object for that matter.

And the point is that they stick to the laptop, and are easy to remove when you pack up.
If you have try using the eraser method on chair and bed, then you know it's not safe. And the extra height is definitely needed on bed and chair to provide ANY air intake.

Best cooling solution is to use it on the freezer

I have an M17 on order, but I have to say that if things like this are necessary to keep the laptop cool, then there is something terribly wrong with the design of the machine. If it is necessary, it should come from the factory with it.

Unfortunately, it is normal for laptop computers to run hot, thus the sales of CoolPad and such.

You got it all wrong. Wouldn't you want to have better tires for your new sports car? The tires that comes with your car might good enough, but you want to have better.

Same idea as ATI driver, the driver that came from AW is good and stable. but many of us wants better. Simple.

In addition, as I mentioned, if you want to use the laptop on bed or on soft chair, you want to not to block the air intake, which this cheap balls are good for. That's same with any laptop that uses a fan and have vent at the bottom.

Exactly. Never did anyone even mention in this thread that the m17 was lacking sufficient cooling vents.

Back on topic, looking good man... definitely more appealing than rubber erasers.
